I won't. It will be used against us by oppressors.

Thank you, bitcoin retards, for letting them do a dry run.

So true but advocates of bitcoin tout that crypto is the "new" money which will set them free from the elites when in reality they probably are behind it and will continue to pull the strings.
 Quoting: Duncan the destroyer

Nah, Bitcoin didn't start out as a tool for the elite, and it's pretty apparent because when you research the timeline from the early days of Satoshi Nakamoto and his chat logs, there was a point in time where his partner sent him a message stating that the CIA had approached him and after that Satoshi disappeared, which then lead to Blockstream muscling their way into the core development Group and slowly pushing away members of the original development team, and ever since around the time frame all of this happened core development in Bitcoin basically stopped moving in a beneficial Direction, and in fact some would say begin obviously being sabotaged.

Plus when you dig into who is behind blockstream you basically find that theyre ultimately funded by InQTel (CIA).

Bitcoin actually in my opinion started out truthful to its Core Concepts but was ultimately sabotaged along the way which now leads to people like you being able to point out how ineffective it is, which is truthful to an extent it's just the blame is misguided.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 74988281

So you're saying crypto started out with good intentions and like facebook once it was gaining traction the "dark" forces of government stepped in and took control?

Well of course that is what and will always happen when something outside the box comes along, how can it not happen? one man or company is no match for the elite should they chose to take over something.
 Quoting: Duncan the destroyer

Well you just have to dig into the technicalities of it essentially even though they infiltrated in sabotage Bitcoin another aspect of blockchain Technology and specifically speaking of Bitcoin in this context is that it's open source so anybody can recreate a cryptocurrency that's ultimately meant to do with Bitcoin was supposed to do and that's where Bitcoin cash came from.

They were able to sabotage and stop Bitcoin from growing rapidly and replacing the Fiat paradigm, however they can't stop the true development of blockchain Technologies and even one with a specific and common goal of replacing Fiat like I just said.

Ironically enough one of the ways they also tried to sabotage Bitcoin was to remove specific opcodes that would allow for the development of smart contracts and provide a common platform for tokenization of various projects which gave rise to Ethereum. One could readily state that if it wasn't for the sabotage of Bitcoin in the impatience of vitalik to create a smart contract platform on top of the Bitcoin Network then Ethereum wouldn't even exist today.

In the end I don't think Bitcoin will remain King due to the fact that blockstream will remain in control of its core development but yet we have Bitcoin cash which is returning all of the original concepts of Bitcoin to its Network, and like I stated above aetherium still came into existence it just wasn't built over top the Bitcoin Network.

It just goes to show that when speaking in terms of blockchain technology in decentralized Networks coupled with open-source development try as you might the people will ultimately just start over again if you try to infiltrate and sabotage
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 74988281

nice
indeed ironically they might've had better succss with only one blockchain offering all the godies in one, it would;ve been much easier to try to control it than the entire eco-system of blockchain.

but yeah decentralization + open source, you can t beat that 'behind the scenes'

Block chain is like Napster was in 2000-1 right now.. It was cool for awhile then the hammer came down on it. Now it sucks, if its even still being used.. Something came along that made napster obselete.. Youtube.. Same as with this Blockchain.. All the coins out right now will be useless in the future as the government and bankers crack down on it and take 100% control of their own block chains and instead of running peer to peer it will be cloud chains, i.e not peer to peer, not decentralized and it will be forced on all of us because of the push and greed of you people adopting and using it right now...

The bankers will not endorse it the way it is now..
The bankers won't let their ledgers be viewed by the public..
The bankers won't let it be peer to peer..
Hell, the version of block chain they force on us probably won't even need to be mined.. It will be closed sourced, cut off from prying eyes but because you morons are adopting this bullshit tech with open arms, out of pure greed, their version of block chain will be forced down our fucking throats like a big black cock..

So if you see and hear of resistance to crypto's.. This is why.. We are resisting it because we know you won't have the fairy tale version of block chain in the future.. You will have an centralized, A.I controlled version of it directly linked to RFID chips, biometric scanners etc.. I.E of pure technocratic hell and total enslavement.

If you actually think the current crypto's will be used in beyond the central bankers using their own, you are simply blinded by greed.. All the current versions of crypto's will be useless, outlawed, banned, illegal etc.. You can fucking bank on it..

humanity has to evolve in a direction than being stuck in this retarded loop of self-gratifying behavior. And AI will be part of it in some way or another. We just can't get back to the little jungle village and to enjoy a pointless little animal existence :)

Re: How can blockchain change the world for the better
I am not a fan of Bitcoin as a currency as it is backed by nothing.

However I am a fan of Block Chain. If merged with something of value like Gold then it could do some very good work.

Not sure if it will happen by Block Chain has the potential bring back some sanity in many things by eliminating "hedging", Fractional-reserve banking and buying stocks on margin.

In other words if you have one thing then you can only sell it one time. Like in Gold, for every one ounce of Gold they have they will sell 75 paper contracts. One ounce of silver they sell 176 times in paper contracts. How can 176 people own the same one ounce of silver?

Re: How can blockchain change the world for the better
throwing these thoughts here maybe they'll be interesting for someone

in a nuthsell for the first time in human history it is technically possible to solve all the big problems that plagued us: perfect rule of law, total eradication of corruption, theft and crime in general, global poverty and basically anything that was a nice idea but ended up being confiscated by meager human interests.

blockchain

as was initially created by satoshi, blockchain is basically a way to use a decentralized network of peers to solve the problem of trust, and do away with the need to have a central authority to certify the validity of transactions.

one of they key concepts is asymmetric cryptography which encrypts stuff based on a private and a public key. You use the private key to encrypt and the system is hard coded that there is no other way to bypass this private key. At the same time while you can keep complete control of certain aspects of information and rights, you can make other parts of it public and accessible by anyone who has the public key.

to give a short example in a file sharing protocol based on blockchain those maintaining the network (e.g. torrent sites) won't have access to the encrypted content. A platform where you log in through the blockchain, won't be able to recover your private key (password) in any way. You forget your private key, there's no other way to regain access to it.
So for example a torrent blockchain can't be held accountable for whatever the encrypted content of a certain individual might contain, for the reason they can not possibly know what it's there. Or you assets which are hard linked with your private key can't be confiscated in anyway without you giving the private key.

another important thing is that a blockchain keeps the entire history of its ledger, and the method of validation rests upon keeping this history. No one has the power to delete or modify a transaction from history.

blockchain in itself, by eliminating the need of third parties to certify the transactions between parties, because the third party is the network itself, makes banks and other institutions obsolete.

smart contracts and rule of law

advanced blockchains like ethereum and many others make their transactions as 'smart contracts'.
This means that whenever there is some exchange between parties this is modeled like a contract, exchanging rights and obligations.

the big deal with building contracts at the very core of the language is that you can start re-codifying actual real laws into 'smart contracts', that is you write them in a way that the network will understand.

And the network is the one which will enforce the fulfillment of the contract/law. And with this you have absolute rule of law. The law will apply the same to everyone, irrespective of position or personal power.

Combined with the inherent transparent of the blockchain, rules will be applied to everyone without exception.

of course you can envision the way this might lead to a big brother totalitarian state. But this amounts the what laws will be made and if they are just. If you will embed the constitution in such a smart system that will know how to apply it, you will have a free society based on the constitution, and this can never be bypassed to rhetoric, arbitrary exceptions or errors made by humans.

Privacy and transparency

in a free society you need both. In the pre-blockchain era these two were in a kind of contradiction. Simply because private information could be obtained by other parties that could misuse it against your personal interest.
At the same time the more you know and is public, the less possibility for crime.

The best possible combination is to have that which needs to be private 100% private and at the same time have all the information to be able to track down crimes.

This mix is made possible by the blockchain.
For example, in the case of elections you can be certain all votes are accounted for and legit, and the counting is error free by using the technological means (digital identity) to do it without the need of humans. Also the network can keep public all the relevant information like how many votes for each candidate, but will keep ecrypted and private the real identity of the individuals. IN this way no other human will be able to obtain that information from the system, and also there will be no possibility of error.

corruption and theft

imagine that you create a crypto without a value in itself as money but more like a counter-part to certain parts of the real money which it will be able to trace in a very detailed way.
And all the public spending you require it to be done using this crypto as a method of payment. This way you won t be able to use those money for other purposes, all the details will be public.

as for theft, advanced blockchain have embedded the possibility of using digital identity of real individuals (which as was explained above can be built in such a way so to keep sensitive private information out of the reach of any human individual). With this features money will have written on them that they are yours and, therefore stealing them would become impossible.

there are many other way in which blockchain could be used to change the world for the better, if anyone is interested would be a nice convo
 Quoting: VenusRose

We need people like you to format this in a media friendly way so that we can share on social media, make viral and get the word out about the value of the blockchain. If the folks on GLP are having a hard time getting their heads around this gamechanger, then the rest of the 99% will too... especially when the PTB start muddying the waters.

While we're on the subject of Blockchain does anyone know what mathematical equations are being solved when mining for bitcoin?

Who writes these equations that require so much computer time to solve? How is it possible to come up with so many equations for all the miners?
where are the main computers that download these equations located? what exactly are they doing with all this information once solved.
I'm totally ignorant on how Blockchain even works, thanks if anyone can add some info.

While we're on the subject of Blockchain does anyone know what mathematical equations are being solved when mining for bitcoin?

Who writes these equations that require so much computer time to solve? How is it possible to come up with so many equations for all the miners?
where are the main computers that download these equations located? what exactly are they doing with all this information once solved.
I'm totally ignorant on how Blockchain even works, thanks if anyone can add some info.

Re: How can blockchain change the world for the better
Blockchain is a novel and global payment rail with its own currencies. It will reduce account and payment transfers in current rails and infrastructure - and will take the cost of payment towards 0,-

Blockchain absorbs the act-of-payment and enables automated settlement.

e-currencies and Smart Contracts will replaces cash as means of settlement. All current payment/settlement process steps are build on the “old” cash account-transfer model - and that is why blockchain is disruptive to banking and payments. Act-of-payment is execution of settlement, i.e. entries to the ledger and initiation of spawned processes. There is no transfer between accounts. BLC is one account (one ledger).

Cryptocurrency eco-systems will evolve to become diverse means of payment and the necessity of cash FIATs will be reduced as FED’s/Governments will issue own cryptos. Our future bank- and cash account becomes virtual (a wallet) and the internet becomes a valuestore(!)

Blockchain automates processes and creates transparency and has a build-in incentive model to ensure consensus. It dissolves the need for “paper-documentation” because all relevant parties can access the same data, thus it is fundamental for monetization of data. Combine this with the individuals management of one owns datastream....and new bi-directional incentivisation will emerge.

Todays centralized systems are tomorrows decentralised systems.

Whether voters' worries concern something like alleged meddling in elections by foreign powers, the vulnerability of democracy in the developing world or other questionable election procedures, blockchain technology can help restore the public's trust in how elections are run and votes counted. The instant a ballot is scanned, it's immutably recorded on the blockchain for anyone in the world to see. The public will know immediately where and when the votes occurred, and each voter can trace their vote using a private code," Nick Spanos, CEO and patent holder for VoteWatcher — the first secure blockchain voting platform — told Sputnik
