Good stuff, OP!

The Ethereum platform should eventually do away with lawyers who specialise in contract law.

That's for starters.

No wonder TPTB hate it, and are desperately rolling out Ripple and their "me too" bankster apps.

I pose this question:

Will 2+2=5 if the blockchain consensus agrees?

Re: How can blockchain change the world for the better
I'm actually involved in a technology right now called Matryx, which is a blockchain based collaboration platform geared towards STEM related research and development.

It's ultimately a product of a company called Nanome, which has created nano particle graphing and mathematic graphing VR systems called NanoPro and Calcflow.

Their goal with the blockchain collaboration platform (Matryx) is to bring together research collaborators and provide a virtual reality environment and which they can model and create various compounds and improve on existing compounds to advance scientific research and development.

They're already in partnership with HTC Vive, various pharmaceutical institutions, and educational institutions like MIT.

I've been out of the whole cryptocurrency blockchain world for a few months since as another AC posted above most people have just been treating it strictly as an investment potential to turn a profit on coin values and completely ignoring the advancements that can be made in our lives through blockchain ledgers.

I kept my MTX coins however since I truly believe out of the hundreds of various cryptocurrencies out there Matrix is one that is actually taking the capabilities of blockchain and creating something that can better mankind.

Awesome thread OP
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 74988281

thx for sharing, wasn t aware of that platform.

enhance that kind of platform with a neural model that uses human input and you'll create humanity's brain so to say

gamify complex scientific problems into tasks that can be solved by normal people and you will crowdsource the entire creativity and capability of billions of humans

Really good input OP - and very true. At the essence its all about Resource Allocation.

Resource Allocation (RA) - a fairly akademic and boring term, but also something that we do all the time. As societies, political systems, businesses and organizations, professionals and private individuals we are engaged in resource allocation 24/7.

Even biology couldn't function without RA and every cell in our body is engaged in RA.

RA is easy to understand as it is a very basic process; Party A and Party B exchanges energy in the form of goods/services and means of payment. This (temporal) relation is regulated by a Contract that defines the terms & conditions for the bidirectional RA.

Together this ABC is what constitutes process.

To enable these exchanges of ressources a number of third parties is involved to enforce the contract and create trust between A and B.

In essence the blockchain and Smart Contracts eliminates most of these 3rd parties as it can offer a trusted, decentralized environment for exchange of resources.

In this light Blockchain is a universal design showing the way to optimal process flow and resource allocation - and that is why it will have such a huge impact on any industry or type of process.

Oh don't get me wrong I completely agree with you it's just when you sit back and you truly think about Bitcoin and the emergence of blockchain technology which Bitcoin basically led the way in providing a use case for that people could readily understand the power of it, it just saddens me that most people just simply want to turn a profit and they don't truly care about the technology, how it works, what it can do and they don't care to be any more involved than to say I put money in I deserve to get money out with a profit.

In my opinion those people are definitely at liberty of having those points of view on the whole sector, but when I got involved in cryptocurrency I got involved because I saw the benefit that the technology could bring to the entire world and I still hold that as my majority motivation for being involved, that doesn't make other people wrong and only myself right, I was more or less just saying that was the reason I got pretty uninvolved for a few months recently since it all seemed to be coming to a head.

Hopefully after the pretty significant crash recently more people will focus on the benefits and merit of the technologies and not just how much money they can make from them.

That's just my view point though again people that are only in it for profit, more power to them as well and I wish them luck all the same.

Nah, Bitcoin didn't start out as a tool for the elite, and it's pretty apparent because when you research the timeline from the early days of Satoshi Nakamoto and his chat logs, there was a point in time where his partner sent him a message stating that the CIA had approached him and after that Satoshi disappeared, which then lead to Blockstream muscling their way into the core development Group and slowly pushing away members of the original development team, and ever since around the time frame all of this happened core development in Bitcoin basically stopped moving in a beneficial Direction, and in fact some would say begin obviously being sabotaged.

Plus when you dig into who is behind blockstream you basically find that theyre ultimately funded by InQTel (CIA).

Bitcoin actually in my opinion started out truthful to its Core Concepts but was ultimately sabotaged along the way which now leads to people like you being able to point out how ineffective it is, which is truthful to an extent it's just the blame is misguided.

The only recourse for (((Them))) would be to nuke the Interwebz, which they might actually try to do, if (((They))) get desperate enough.

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 74988281

i know what you're saying. It;s just that people that are solely or mostly after profits do that based on their nature. Their lack of interest for the true potentials was the same before and after blockchain.

the beauty of it imo is that now those self-interested individuals in their run after profit they actually end up supporting cool projects like the one you mentioned. From the 13k eth matryx raised probably a big part came from people seeking only a good personal gain, but in doing so they end up financing a great project.

also if you think in layers, and deal away with those bulk 99% or whatever which are there for personal gains, the other 1% are still for the first time in the position to come together very easily.

and it's actually funny cause now in my real life dealing i can use the potential of the blockchain as the best yardstick to really know the drive of those i talk with. someone unable to see the potential here is mostly a waste of time. before blockchain it was quite hard sometimes to discern between them :)

 Quoting: Duncan the destroyer

of course it will happen and that it's a kind of battle ground.

but the very structure of the idea turns the odds. in the case of facebook or any other 3rd party for that matter be it bank, government or private company you actually need to trust them to uphold their part. you have to trust fb they will keep your information private, that they won't manipulate the info stream and many others. And then you realize they weren't exactly keeping on their promise.

that was the initial idea in the paper published under satoshi avatar, how to build a system that doesn t need trust in any third parties, cause all the rules that need to be enforced by a self-determined group will be enforced to a distributed peer-to-peer network.

imagine an old style financial institution trying to enter the blockchain space and offer the same service they offered from ages. it would be something like:

"well, invest in our token. we will produce new tokens whenever we want and you won't know about it, and we will give them discretionary to who we want. But it still an awesome product we offer, so come join out initial coin offering and chose us to give your money"

they simply can't do that anymore, they have to play by the new rules, and their old tricks have no place in the new game.

so any country or bank is welcome to the blockchain, but there's no other way to enter it but by playing by the rules. which is first of all to have open source cause that's embedded in how blockchain works.

Well of course that is what and will always happen when something outside the box comes along, how can it not happen? one man or company is no match for the elite should they chose to take over something.

Well you just have to dig into the technicalities of it essentially even though they infiltrated in sabotage Bitcoin another aspect of blockchain Technology and specifically speaking of Bitcoin in this context is that it's open source so anybody can recreate a cryptocurrency that's ultimately meant to do with Bitcoin was supposed to do and that's where Bitcoin cash came from.

They were able to sabotage and stop Bitcoin from growing rapidly and replacing the Fiat paradigm, however they can't stop the true development of blockchain Technologies and even one with a specific and common goal of replacing Fiat like I just said.

Ironically enough one of the ways they also tried to sabotage Bitcoin was to remove specific opcodes that would allow for the development of smart contracts and provide a common platform for tokenization of various projects which gave rise to Ethereum. One could readily state that if it wasn't for the sabotage of Bitcoin in the impatience of vitalik to create a smart contract platform on top of the Bitcoin Network then Ethereum wouldn't even exist today.

In the end I don't think Bitcoin will remain King due to the fact that blockstream will remain in control of its core development but yet we have Bitcoin cash which is returning all of the original concepts of Bitcoin to its Network, and like I stated above aetherium still came into existence it just wasn't built over top the Bitcoin Network.

It just goes to show that when speaking in terms of blockchain technology in decentralized Networks coupled with open-source development try as you might the people will ultimately just start over again if you try to infiltrate and sabotage
