Power at my house was restored at 6 pm all my neighbors are still without power. I was lucky and was the only house with no damaged lines, all the rest were disconnected around me due to trees falling and taking their lines down.

Tropical Cyclone Gita is a monster Category 4, Nuku'alofa badly battered

Thousands of people hunkered down in Tonga are being badly battered by Tropical Cyclone Gita.

Fiji's Met Service said the category four storm was very close to being upgraded to the highest category, five.

It has already washed out building and equipment of Tonga's met office, and Fiji weather forecasters took over issuing warnings for the region from shortly before midnight.

The local radio station is also disabled.

There are reports of very high winds in the capital Nuku'alofa - Gita has winds of 195 kilometres an hour, expected to gust over 200 kilometres an hour.

I have a good friend in Tonga and like Filipinos, they are much more prepared than most of the zombie demoncraps in the US for disasters.

Like the Cajun Navy who helped rescue same said demoncraps in Houston last year, "Country folk will survive".

The parasite demoncraps have no idea what to do if their EBT won't work and will riot and loot. Rest assured, Pacific Islanders like US country folk know how to live off the land, not off the govt teet.
You are born with the truth, then taught a lie.

Cyclone destroys Parliament House, homes on Tonga, Fiji next

The Pacific nation of Tonga began cleaning up damage Tuesday from a cyclone that destroyed its Parliament House, as well as homes and churches, and was intensifying as it headed toward nearby Fiji.

Cyclone Gita caused power outages after tearing through the island nation just south of the capital, Nuku’alofa, with winds exceeding 200 kilometers per hour (124 miles per hour) at landfall. Some 5,000 people stayed in evacuation centers overnight, according to officials, and an emergency was declared. There were no immediate reports of serious injuries or deaths.

The cyclone was intensifying and was forecast to hit some southern Fiji islands Tuesday night, though it’s likely to miss Fiji’s major population centers, including the capital, Suva.

Cyclone Gita LATEST: New Zealand braces for storm as residents urged to PREPARE for worst

The latest update from the MetService said the storm was “expected to bring a period of high-impact severe weather to many parts of central New Zealand”.

The storm, which was recently upgraded to category five, has already caused widespread damage in Tonga, Samoa and American Samoa.

Regions including Canterbury, Marlborough, Nelson, parts of the West Coast, Wellington and Horowhenua are expected to be lashed by more than 100 millimetres of rainfall in just 24 hours.

The MetService warning reads: "Heavy rain will cause slips, rapidly rising streams and rivers, and flooding.

“Severe gales with damaging gusts are expected, so people are advised to secure property and items that may be blown away by strong winds.”

MetService said the coast would be inundated with high tide overnight on Tuesday and dawn on Wednesday “due to the combination of tides, low-air pressure, strong onshore winds and large waves in excess of six meters in some places”.
