It's really neither good nor bad; just a possible sign of an intention, focus and feeling shared between a number of people.

The fact that sometimes the dot appears to be of different color to different users has to do with technical issues. The way the page is implemented does not guarantee that all users would see the data for exactly the same time period.

There are many possible ways to analyze and interpret the data produced by the REGs -- the Random Event Generator devices from which the GCP project collects it's data. The REGs are physical devices that produce truly random data by, for example, listening to quantum level noise.

I've been involved in the project since 2006, hosting one of the REGs, and have had many interesting e-mail discussions with the project leader, Prof. Roger D. Nelson. He is open to the idea of someone(s) creating new web based analysis displays for the GCP data.

If anyone reading this thread has web programming skills and some spare time to share, please message me; I don't have the time to do the programming myself, and would like to work with someone with hands-on experience in JavaScript and WebGL.

In order to fully understand what the GCP Dot color means, one has to understand what variance is.

"In probability theory and statistics, variance is the expectation of the squared deviation of a random variable from its mean. Informally, it measures how far a set of (random) numbers are spread out from their average value."
