I have thought about this also.
It was a creature that could speak. An animal with language,
although not English, as Adam and Eve did not speak English.
And, it was subject to the temptation of Lucifer, to do evil to Eve.

Eve though, knew that to have children she must eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil and descend into a fallen state, after listening to the creature that God cursed and became the serpent.

She really stuck her neck out too, knowing she would have to convince Adam, even as she fell.
