Monero has been around $300 today and ZCash is pushing $500.
My little 1.8 cent coin is in good company.

May I add Stellar Lumens? IMHO Stellar is the perfect coin for mass adaption.
The network can handle one billion transactions per second and for a fraction of a cent per transaction.
Compare this to bitcoin, where a transaction can take up to 30 minutes and even small transactions will cost $4 or more.
Nobody is going to use bitcoin for every day payments in stores etc.
Especially people in third world countries could never afford transaction costs of a couple dollars per transaction.
But with Stellar's lightning fast and almost free of charge transactions, a customer base of 5 billion people opens up to Stellar.

How do I buy cryptos using USD? Every exchange I've tried makes me use a crypto to buy cryptos but I don't have any cryptos lol

You need to open an account at Kraken.com. You fund your account with USD, best by wire transfer.
Once your funds have arrived you take a look if Kraken carries the coin you want and buy it with your USD at Kraken
If Kraken does not carry the coin than you need to buy bitcoin or Ethereum at Kraken,since most other exchanges do not accept funding in USD.
Then you research which exchange carries your coin.
Say, Bittrex exchange carries your coin, then you must send the bitcoin or Ethereum to this exchange and once your funds arrive you buy your coin there.
Indeed a bit complicated, but it works, I have done it several times without problems.

How about selling crypto that you mined for normal currency?

ahhhh I gotcha, so each exchange kind of requires their own wallet, and the only way to buy some cryptos is to transfer your funds between exchanges/wallets?

Yes, they basically have their own version of a wallet for every coin they have. You can trade something like XVG on Bittrex, Binance, Cryptopia, etc.

You will need to join an exchange that has coins you like and then go to your BTC account click on deposit bitcoin. It will tell you your BTC address for that exchange. Copy the address.

Then go to Coinbase and send BTC to that address. While you wait, you can enter that address at blockchain.info and watch your BTC being sent.

There is nothing wrong with doing smaller trades as you're getting the hang of it.

I saw some YouTube videos telling how to do that.
