Re: Hey Pot Heads, Are You Ready To Choose....
It’s already happening in Hawaii. There was a whole thread on it. Pretty simple, cross check the registry for medical marijuana users to the federal list Hawaii uses for registered gun owners.

They are fighting this by stating that they are violating the medical privacy laws. The government is countering, saying that a medical patient volunteers that information when they sign up for the registry to get the card. It’s pretty twisted but in the end the government will win.

Why did you decide to use the term 'potheads' in the thread title?

huh
 Quoting: WOLF*

Because I differentiate between those who choose to use marijuana for sport and those that use it all of the time. IMHO, those who use it daily are the ones that have to be careful or be caught. Those who choose to imbibe in substances of any kind when they feel like it and do not when they choose are not the ones that will be suffering at all from this turn of events.

Just thought it was unusual that you used that term and then proceeded to reference medical cannabis users in the content of the post.

Hey folks, if you want to smoke pot recreationally then move to a state that allows it. I'm in Las Vegas and I have been buying pot legally here since July. It is actually a fucking blast. I have smoked weed on and off for 40 years. Since July I have visited 6 pot shops and sampled a wide variety of Indica and Sativa strains. I'm a solitary toker, and I don't buy much. I smoke 1 or 2 hits in the evening, so 1 gram lasts me about 2 weeks. It's fantastic having access to really good pot. And not having to worry about the police is pretty damn sweet.

Not entirely.....

If you apply for a medical marijuana card to get pot from the State, they will ask you to sign your rights to weapons away.

But, if you have a condition that a doctor says marijuana will help, you do not need to get a card. You will be allowed to purchase and own marijuana up to a certain amount.

Even a few indoor plants.

They can not take your weapons unless you agree to it.

...between your weed and your weapons? Well if not, get ready, or at least be careful. The government is back-dooring the 2nd Amendment utilizing "evil weed" as the key.

Last June I was made aware and then announced to our Township Committee that from what I had been told, marijuana was going to be legalized by June of 2018 after Governor Murphy was inaugurated here in New Jersey (a sure thing I was also told). When I mentioned this to my Son-In-Law, a SWAT Team cop in an urban PD, I was told that his PD had already been briefed that it would be done in early January 2018, not June. At our first Committee meeting in November, my Mayor held up the Pot Legalization bill that he was able to get a copy of in Trenton that very morning that had already passed the legislature. It was held back until the new governor takes office because Chris Christie would surely veto it.

Now jump up and down for joy all you want for this momentous event, but there will be a stiff price to pay let me assure you.

I have done some Internet searches and I am finding that there is much fervor in the efforts to disarm those individuals that are ok'd to use medical Mary Jane. What the future will hold for these poor souls that are caught up in this mess right now is yet to be determined, but I am sure it is costing them a ton of cash and making a shitload of lawyers a ton of income. If those in the medical weed area are suffering so, how easy will it be for TPTB to utilize the same tactic to disarm the pot heads that are simply buying weed at the local weed store "legally". remember, unless the Federal government decriminalizes it, pot will still be "technically" illegal.

Do what you will, choose what you will choose to do, but be aware that the spotlight of LAW may very well screw up your day once you can be proved to be a pot user through your purchase records.

$15 to $25 per gram, which is outrageously expensive. Back in the day, I could get an ounce for that much. But as I said, 1 gram lasts me 2 weeks or more. And buying in small quantities lets me sample a wider variety. Ounces are around $300, I think, but I haven't really paid attention since I don't need ounces. There are also lots of edibles, dabs, oils, etc.

I have had a number of conversations already with many who understand that decriminalizing is totally different from this "legalization" that is underway. I know it sounds bizarre, but legally there is a huge difference. The government cannot be trusted anymore, this is certain. In our state there will also be a big push to make owning a home far too expensive for the average person in the area of property tax as well, but that is a subject for another thread.

Just purchased a firearm last week.

I didn't see anything new on the federal form you're required to fill out. (form #4473)

On it, it asks if you're an illegal user of drugs (including marijuana)
Since pot is legal here in Oregon, the Oregon residences would not be illegal users.

This was always my fear.

Maybe the current situation is the best, if you want it just move to the states that legalized it.

If not, live wherever the hell you want.

Then again, the MAIN argument we should be making here is:

-legalizing and taxing "processed" store-bought cannabis like alcohol(if you grow you're own at home no tax just like DYI alcohol kits at home)

-completely stop allowing this to be a partisan issue, and instead DEMAND that cannabis policy doesn't get ground to a halt by partisan politics and political trickery.
