Mets fireballer Noah Syndergaard used Twitter Saturday to poke fun at President Trump’s Trump says he turned down Time’s ‘Person of the Year’ crown.
“Sports Illustrated called and said I was probably going to be Sportsman of the Year,” Syndergaard tweeted in the wee hours Saturday morning, “but it was going to take a long photo shoot and interview. I’m not proud of my recent perm and have a interpretive dance class at the interview time so I turned it down! No Thanks SI!!”

Trump made waves Friday when he tweeted that the magazine had contacted him because he “was PROBABLY going to be named ‘Man (Person) of the Year’” for the second year running – but that he “said probably is no good and took a pass. Thanks anyway!”
The magazine denied trump’s claim, saying that it does not comment on its selection process before releasing its annual choice.
Syndergaard joined comedian Julia Louis-Dreyfus, tennis great Andy Murray, “Star Wars” actor Mark Hamill, and others to troll Trump’s claim.
“Time Magazine called to say that I was DEFINITELY going to be named ‘Man (Person) of the Year’ but I would have to agree to leak major #Ep8 spoilers,” Hamill tweeted at Trump Friday, referring to the imminent release of a new film in the series. “Then they told me you turned it down and now I don’t want it anymore. Thanks anyway!”
Amid the celebrity snarkiness Trump was trolled by conservative political commentator Bill Kristol, editor of The Weekly Standard — who said the Time magazine honor should go to one of Trump’s tormentors.
