BREAKING: Event ‘consistent with an explosion’ near last known location of missing sub – Argentine navy
An unusual sound detected around the time that an Argentine navy submarine sent its last signal before going missing last week was "consistent with an explosion," according to a navy spokesperson. It occurred near the last known location of a missing submarine carrying 44 people.

It comes as a dozen countries conduct a search and rescue mission for the ARA San Juan, which disappeared on November 15. It was believed that those on board could still be alive, but running out of oxygen.

Could be the sub was slowly filling with water, and it finally reached the batteries.

I'm pretty sure lead acid batteries can go kaboom if a bank that large is submerged.

Submarines are kinda designed to be hard to find.

Any technology that would transmit a real time indication of their position back to base would kinda defeat the purpose of building a boat that's impossible to track.

The ocean is REALLY fucking big, and the sub could have moved hundreds of miles from it's last reported position.

No, most people thinks subs are nuclear powered or carry nuclear weapons. This is a diesel boat and Argentina does not have nukes, as far is published.

I'm guessing either battery bank exploding or sub going below crush depth and imploding. hf

Because the system that detected the event was designed to detect nuclear explosions.

Did this happen in the Gulf of Mexico. And was there a French sub nearby?

Dont you think it odd that 3 navys were "urgently" looking for it, Argentine, US and UK, enemys in 1982.
That sub went rouge, and threatened to sink British ships around the falklands. I wounder who sank it, UK prob.
Will never be told for at least 50 years if not longer.

I read somewhere that the sub last position was at a depth of 250 ft. I don't think that's crush depth.

Is it possible that this was a torpedo fired in a desperate attempt to give their location to the search and rescue teams ? Can they even be launched from the sea bed ?.

Just like the “missing” MH-17 flight? Maybe, as Don Lemon suggested, it went on a black hole?

Only when you know that they released the Sum of All Fears on the same day as they delivered the plane 404 aka MH370 to Malaysia Airlines does the answer to your question become apparent

Didn't the same media state 'Clear and present danger' title to Trump the other day?

there was a thread posted here about the day this sub went missing.
It was a picture of a US Sub that had returned from a mission and was flying the skull and bones flag on it's return to port.
Perhaps this is what the mission was.
