I'm curious, has anyone else seen something like this?
FWIW

One moonless night I was idly scanning the starry sky and spotted what I initially thought was a satellite because it appeared to be moving in a straight line. As I kept watching it, I noticed it was wavering, as if it was spinning around a general line of direction, relatively slowly compared to the speed of it overhead. As I pondered this unusual behavior, it appeared to turn up and generally away from my point of view before rapidly accelerating into a very briefly visual 'worm-hole'/'energy vortex' thingy, which 'collapsed' as quickly as it appeared.

It's OK to tease me about smoking too much weed, etc, but I was very sober at the time.

Pretty common really.

Most people don't look up that's why it seems like a rare event. Let me guess.... happened between 9 and 11 pm, right? That's usually when you can spot these things. Space force is as predictable as any other military unit. They even take holidays off.

Keep looking up!

Re: I'm curious, has anyone else seen something like this?
I was laying on my bed looking at the stars through my window one night with binoculars and saw pretty much the reverse of what you saw.
I saw this thing that looked like swirling clouds and it got brighter then this huge alien looking craft came out of the middle of it and the wormhole, is what i was calling it then, dissipated leaving this huge ship flying over my house at about the same altitude as a jet airliner or a little lower. I ran downstairs then outside and grabbing a flashlight on my way out because i lived far away from any town and watched it fly over my house.
Then, for some unknown reason, i decided to aim my flashlight at it, and the hair on the back of my neck stood up as i got frightened thinking maybe they could see me doing this. So i quickly turned the flashlight off and watched if fly further away. For some reason i got the impression they were sightseers checking our planet out and i was the animal.

Nope, haven't seen anything like that. Out in the country and away from city lights, you can see lights zipping back and forth and stopping in mid-air in between stars. These are not satellites that one can see passing over in a straight line, but lights further off in the distance zipping between stars and stopping in between before zipping off to another star. Why no one ever reports this is a mystery to me, because you can clearly see these lights doing this on a clear starry night without the need for binoculars or a telescope.

Exactly! I lived off the grid for 8 years in Alaska, had no electricity or running water. What i saw i have never seen again, but i know for a fact we are being visited by other intelligent life.
Where i lived you could see part of the spiral of the Milky Way Galaxy it was so clear at night, no lights to subdue anything. You could not stand outside for 5 minutes, while looking up, and not see something unusual moving up there.

Good to know I'm not alone ~ it was more like 1am I think and yes I will be looking up often.

That's so unbelievable I would laugh, but technically, it corresponds with what I saw if you were at the intended destination. I'm glad my experience was vastly less close-up and personal than yours though, seeing something like that might really fuck me up.

Obviously we need checking up on regularly, eh?
