I think a bad conduct discharge is different than a dishonorable discharge. It's not as bad, doesn't equate to making you a felon.

But he spent 12 months in jail, which should have meant he's a felon... but I think there are some misdemeanors that carry a longer than one year sentence.

FBI dropped the ball on the background checks...are they liable?...just willy nilly selling people assault weapons?...

According to Liz Claimin at Fox biz, he was a felon and should not have been able to buy a gun. Also, I read yesterday, that a dishonorable discharge also puts one on the list.

I personally think when an assault rifle or rifles is being sold it should be much more scrutinized than a hand gun purchase...

Judge Nap said earlier his discharge was not dishonorable but labeled without honor. Kind of a middle ground I didn't even know existed but apparently makes him legal to own weapons. Also military charges don't show up on civilian databases regarding the domestic abuse. Possible loophole.

The CCL was denied because he had pending charges for animal cruelty. However he could still own them. Just not legally carry them in public or on his body.

He was quick to point out the generous nature of Texas gun laws actually prevented future carnage and if they had been adhered to inside the church maybe even less would have resulted.

So while he exposed the loophole it wasn't a gun control slam dunk.

If you think for a minute about the concealable nature of a handgun you'll change your mind. Don't believe the media hype.

Think of it this way. The fact he was walking into the church with an AR made him noticeable. It's what allowed the Good Samaritan to act quickly. If he had been walking in with a concealed handgun who knows how quickly outsiders would have caught on to the fact there was trouble afoot.

even less are dishonorable....150 perhaps.

Bcd type do not automatically disqualify for no guns. Herein lies the current situation and problem There is a disconnect between military court system

Hand guns aren't as lethal as assault rifles...hand guns are mostly for up close...

I own both and I can shoot a lot better with a handgun than with the AR. My balance and upper body strength go against me when I shoot the AR.
