Can he give specific estimates as to probable damage to independent non- long line connected systems such as automobiles, battery powered radios not connected to long transmission lines or antennas? Non long line succeptability is dependent on any intrinsic sheilding from cases or enclisure and speed of transference to ground. Energy deposition depends on current strength and absorptive surfaces. Smaller metallic cased devices simply may survive due to absorbing sublethal doses of induced current to the device. This is complex time, dose relationship that is dependent on many influencing factor. its not just boiling hotdogs. There is no good form of mass management, especially in a country intentianally balkanized and ignorant of reality or consequences There is only prevention or destruction. There is no plan B without uniformity and wide ranging respect and consensus, not to mention armies of saboteurs, enemy agents and manipulators looking to control, subvert and exterminate by neglevt and deception |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 75754225 United States 10/26/2017 10:34 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | VERY IMPORTANT QUESTION!!! Quoting: Anonymous Coward 75756762 Should a faraday cage be grounded or not? I believe it depends on the conductance of the shielding material so that it wont generate transcient currents in adjacent, intrashielded intracage spaces. Put another way thicker and more conductive the less grounding may be necessary due to current absorption or dulutio. but Im not an electrical physicist and anyway the only thing that really matters is actual test results, not assumptions. best advice is many small well grounded faradays instead of one big one or poorly conductive non grounded one, but thats just a guess after listening to some guys doubletalk claiming to love light while also claiming to be an emp consultant for the moist service. The other thing commercial outfits do is nested faraday cages which You can ground the outside one and not ground the inner one, or the other way aroundr |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 75692634 Why cant the USA* Chinesse dont have a dole, you work cheap or starve, and everyone competes for any job in a owners market, nit to mention the prisonnslave factory system.. American lawyers have made dirty industries uncomoetitive. These transformers are very specialized and are simply much cheaper to import than to make once all the peripheral issues are taken into consideration. Yeah, they could be made but the infrastructure cost would be relatively prohibitive. Do our electrical companies keep a supply of transformers to replace whole grid. Of course, guess their want be vehicles, or gas to transport workers even if we had all needed supplies. |

Quoting: Buffalo_Gal_13 how many breeches have truly been previously discovered. will this be a ff? From 1 to 3 nukes detonated at a 300 mile elevation in space over the USA (and spread out) will blanket the entire CONUS with HEMP. In essence, ALL CONUS cities would be targeted simultaneously. AK and HI would likely get a pass, unless Russia was doing the nuking. They have enough to go around. |

I also worked with nuclear physicists, the kind that are familiar with nuclear weapons. The effects of a nuclear EMP on our power grid are greatly exaggerated. A Carrington Event (solar storm) is more plausible in taking out power grids. Our national power grid and other critical infrastructures are more susceptible to a cyber attack than EMP. He said that SDR's are still in a testing phase but are becoming a very useful tool for identifying and tracking things. Q1: NSA has standard called Tempest against EMP and eavesdropping from RFI/EMI signals for SCIF's (Sensitive Compartmentalized Information Facility). This is where TS/SCI information is kept. You need TS Security Clearance and proper access ("read in" to project) to enter SCIF's. Q2: Malware can already jump "airgaps". BT (Blue Tooth) and WiFI (WPA/WPA2) already have vulnerabilities. Plus the weakest link in any security is social engineering and human stupidity. Q3: SDR's are not in testing phase. I've had working prototypes for over 10 years. Anyone can buy consumner USB SDR's. How do you explain this? [link to www.websdr.org] Last Edited by Agent MIB on 10/27/2017 02:34 AM You are born with the truth, then taught a lie. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 35987064 The Internet (originally called DARPAnet) is designed specifically to be resilient against such scenarios. Some areas may suffer outages, but globally it will still function. However, sorry to inform the GLPers their porn sites aren't on listed among critical sites. Anonymous Coward User ID: 75747787 United States 10/27/2017 03:42 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The real bugger with a HEMP attack vs. the USA will be the ~99+ damaged nuclear reactors and spent fuel cooling pools around the USA that will melt down within about ~2 weeks or less after losing grid power and backup generators for cooling due to unmitigated decay heat, despite being SCRAM'd. So even if you live outside of the zombie-infested sanctuary cities, you'll still have to deal with potentially many dozens of new Fukushimas around the country that will irradiate and contaminate everything a few hundred miles downwind from them. . |
