Makes perfect sense, longer beaks facilitated access to more food, thus birds with longer beaks had more chance to produce offspring, therefore the population skewed to favouring longer beaks over 100s of generations. |

Also the time for a bird to have offspring is quite short so 40 years can be 40 generations. Some "extinction events" maybe happened and birds with access to food were the only one to survive. |

British birds evolve bigger beaks to use garden feeders...?! Some can occur even faster but not things like brain development, etc. Some things take thousands of years to change. Two tall parents having an even taller son is a form of "evolution." A bird with a better beak for getting food would be stronger and reproduce more like himself. etc. Common sense. |
