Quoting: *Sloane* Thanks for keeping it going White Angel . . . every year I say I'm gonna do it. Best thoughts to Chrit Hey there, Sloane.... I think about doing one and all I see is blood, and it's mine, harhar. Those pumpkins are hard, my knives are sharp, and I'm certainly not graceful enough to put the two together without hurting myself. I really, really love GLP at Halloween. It's so much fun! I made pokers by attaching straight pins to small paint brush handles and various sized loop scrapers by cutting small strips from tin can lids, bending them into circles and also attaching them to small paint brush handles. you don't need professional tools to get good results...MacGuyver those bitches to your own needs. Not talking about 'scrapers' for digging out the guts, but for detail. After the pumpkin is hollow, you can run a small nightlight or something inside of it and work in a dimly lit room. Instead of carving all the way through...you slowly scrape layers away from the outside.....deeper you go, the brighter it becomes. Cut all the way through for the brightest parts, but by scraping 1/2-3/4 through you can create different gradients of lighting....a 'lighted portrait' like the ones I did are basically negative sculptures.....they look like absolute shit in normal light and you can only see the effect in the dark. |

Tons have children and yes, scaring the dickens out of them brought great joy. During my daughter's junior year in HS we through an even bigger party and I made a huge cake for it. I love mega caking. The pumpkin was the only cake cake, the rest was styrofoam - no one could eat that much cake. The trees were grape stems dipped in candy melt and the fence was pretzels also dipped in candy melt. That pumpkin was my favorite!
