Why the fuck do people put " my opinions on this matter" on everything they fuckin say?!

In their mind It's a way of absolving themselves from the small chance of being held accountable offline for any inflammatory and deliberately false information(propaganda) they put out on the forum.

I usually assume "In my opinion" is merely indicating personal opinion and not necessarily superiority.

Actually, the usage of that sentence is occasionally code for 'I have inside knowledge of this subject but will not risk identifying myself in a public forum'. Unfortunately, the phrase has now also been picked up by the LARPers at large, as they think it lends their posts the air of intrigue and credibility.

My opinions on this matter.

If we all "have opinions on this matter" then how will we know who it is?

I actually prefer it to posters who state something as fact, with no link, and it's just their opinion.

The days of "no link, you stink" seem to have disappeared, sadly.

First off, your opinion only matters to you and yes, if someone takes offence to your opinion they can say, "Neener, neener suck an egg!"

An opinion is just that, an opinion of a subjective experience and as such isn't an established fact.

My opinion is you don't realize an opinion is just an opinion and not something to be considered as factual...

Under Australian law; if someone or something gives you the reason to believe someone or something is sucky and you state that someone of something is sucky. Then legally speaking because you have that as your opinion based on your experience of them or it. Then you can state you think that person or thing is sucky without legal consequences because they or it gave you that impression.

I think OP's opinion on what is sucky is sucky...

Although as to why anyone would consider either opinion (Mine or OP's.) as being authoritative, is solely based on whether people think our considered opinion on opinions is worthwhile and to be considered as a reflection of our understanding of the presented opinion...

For instance if I wanted to slander Coca Cola I'd state, "I think Coke tastes funny." If I stated, "Coke tastes funny." then yet again I'd be stating what I think based on my subjective experience of it.

It is only when one makes a statement that is untrue when being presented as factual for the purpose of slandering someone or something for financial reasons that one comes undone in court.

If I stated that "Coca Cola is made from fetuses!" Without any form of displaying subjective experience or opinion and presented my statement as factual. Without being any sort of example of any legal differences of opinion and established fact, then I would face the legal prosecution of a civil tort.

I think Phenomenon stated she did a law degree and there's actual lawyers on GLP all the time. Hopefully one will chime in and either correct me or add to my post to further educate GLPers on the matter.

I have yet to see the "My opinions on this matter" poster. Thus making my opinion uninformed as to the nature of their posts or whether they should be considered authoritative.
