DOOM BRAKE - Home made big knife sharpener - VIDEO
This is a home made knife blade sharpening jig specifically designed for sharpening big knives - in this case a 15" full tang Bowie ...

[link to vid.me (secure)]

After some thought, I settled on using two pieces of wood, two 1 1/4" countersunk woodscrews, a 10 x 30mm bolt, three nuts for the bolt and a piece old steel rack I had lying around for the arm angle guide (but a piece of thin timber with holes drilled in would do in a pinch)

The basic premise is that the angle arm guide can rotate or be easily moved in any of the three support holes allowing for full and effective blade stroke coverage

The three holes have the nuts countersunk into the timber flush with the back of the board, the bolt is inserted from the top allowing the arm to rotate in any direction in any given hole

The whetstone is attached to a knitting needle and threaded through the holes on the angle adjust arm

Watching the video gives a comprehensive overview of how this simple and very effective contraption can be built for nothing (bits of crap in my garage), a coupla hours thought and some basic hand tools ...

A 28oz Stanley Ball Pein hammer, Phillips screwdriver, hand-crank drill & three drill bits, Barracuda carpentry saw, tape measure, pencil, setsquare, file, sandpaper, medium sized vice, imagination, common sense and a coupla hours

Saves lots of dough and teaches you how to sharpen big knives, very effectively

BREAK

I know. It' s embarrassing. Grown folks don't know the difference between break, brake, two, too, and to. Know, no. Then, than. It goes on and on. I blame the education system for failing to do it's job and teach people proper English.
The fucking teachers should have been rapping knuckle with a ruler to get lazy ADD people's attention.

And yet, these ignorant dummies are found in high paying jobs all over the world. It's unimaginable.

or he could be being facetious, or it's a misclick in autofill or spell check on his device

the bulk of the post isn't grammartarded, you should give OP the benefit of the doubt

it's ironic that you have your own grammatical error:

"failing to do it's job" - should be "its"
Forgive your enemies, it messes with their heads.

Thoughts create, mind them well.

Brake or break, both work here I think (brake meaning to stop - stopping doom seems like a good idea to me?), so I don't think the issue here is one of grammar, it's about sharpening a big knife, and the home made jig thing looks like a winner to me?

A few bits of crap that where lying around turned into something useful that won't break (pun intended) easily & looks like it might actually work as advertised ...

Anyway, I think I might make something similar for my knives too, better than trolling the intertubes and faulting other people who actually do things for themselves, eh?
