I am so disappointed in him now for backing down instead of being proud of what he did last night.

Was he told to do this by the Steelers? Especially since now his jersey is the number one selling in the league right now- too many toes stepped on by his good deed?

I did see one other Steelers player Roethlisberger saying he should have gone out there with him and regretted not doing so, but still, the damage is done.

Why is Villanueva regretting his decision after taking a stand? wtf

He was probably sent to mandatory diversity re-education

I'm thinking he was forced to apologize, or his teammates gave him hell and probably threatened him. His coach probably threatened him, too. You just don't go out and take a stand like that proudly, and regret it later. This man is a vet, he did the right thing, and he knows it.

He SAYS he is EMBARASSED BECAUSE THE REST OF THE TEAM wAS COMING OUT WITH HIM

THEY GOT TANGLED UP SOMEHOW

He was not the sole supporter of the national anthem.

The rest of the team was trying to get out there.

That is why he was embarassed. Because it looks like he was the only one.

No...the rest of the team was NOT trying to get out there. The next day their coach even said he was disappointed because he wanted everyone to stick together as a team, and Villenueva didn't stay back there with them.

The coach:
"Like I said, I was looking for 100 percent participation, we were gonna be respectful of our football team, Tomlin said when asked about Villanueva ignoring the order and coming out for the anthem."
