Come on. EVERY YEAR people on the south/southeastern coasts of the US have to deal with hurricanes.

No, dummy. Hurricanes suck shit up, and move water, lots of water. During Hurricane Donna the Caloosahatchee river, which id's pretty damn big, was nearly bone-dry, you could walk across it.

Tampa Bay now too. First time I've seen a cane do this.

I have several friends inFt. Myers/Cape Cor as l. They're reporting all the canals, the beaches and the river are emptying.

They have low tides as well. It's not just the hurricane only.

I feel confident that the Tampa Bay water was from wind push from the east to west.

I don't know what the wind conditions were in Uruguay when that happened, but it might be. If you're curious, try to find some wind data for that day.

It's called a blowtide. Look at the hurricane, see how it spins counter clockwise? Those winds are blowing the water. That's how storm surge is created. If the wind in blowing toward you, over water, the water rises, a surge. If they're blowing away, the water level drops... especially in shallow areas.
