storage for solar power/alternative (post grid failure)
So right now i am going to a tech school to learn the trade of electrician. i have been doing a little research on how to install solar panel systems in the event of a post grid failure situation. the issue i am running into is finding an affordable way to store the energy collected from the solar panels so that it can be used at any time. does anyone have insight on how to go about obtaining or creating a storage system big enough for a house/neighborhood?

Batteries are the only way to store power right now. You can forget about being the hometown hero and powering the whole neighborhood though, aint gonna happen.

Post collapse when everyone else is looting food, auto parts stores should still be stocked. Load up all the car batteries and have some #6 ground wire on hand to wire them up in series.

All the things you could run on DC power would save about 30% lost in inversion to AC

I would suggest going to YouTube and watching a few videos about some people's actual working solar setups. This will give you an idea oof what kind of battery setup is required for one household,, which I don't think you have. If it were feasible to power a village with solar, it would be happening. Storage is the bottleneck.

Good luck with your project.
