I wouldn't think much of it, but the local media is sure pumping the story, alluding to and comparing us to Charlottseville, and there are rumors of counter-protestors, and anti-fa coming into town. The monument they are protesting was set in stone in 1878 by the parents and families of dead young men, soldiers as young as 14 (maybe younger) who went off to war from our county, and never returned. Most of the writing is rather neutral, but the phrase, "...no nation so white and pure and free of guilt ..." (or something like that) is the line that has lots of folks pissed off. Some locals are pushing for people to come downtown and stand with the protesters, as the other side is doing the same - totally hope we don't end up on the national news. Usually we get along well down here, but I did have a toddler (maybe 3-years-old) come up to me in the laundromat yesterday, slam his fist on the bench I was sitting on and reading, while facing the washing machines. Once he caught my attention, he held up his fist, and walked, thug-like (with a diaper on) away  I was the only white person in there Evidently it was baby-momma, and thug-daddy day at the 'mat But overall I've not had a problem with race relations down here in the deep South in my over 50 years.
