5*. Yes, they are. I posted a thread yesterday about the county emergency services here going nuts with this stuff. My wife also works at a hospital in a rural area. Meetings for half the day yesterday about different scenarios.

I'm a nurse at a large hospital. I never got an email about this. Check my work email everyday.

Strangely enough on the news in New England the other day, they were telling people to prepare the same as you would a weather emergency for the eclipse.

So, what are you saying? That your hospital is not on board with this farce, or, that those of us who have first hand knowledge that hospitals ARE being put on alert are full of shit?

I would think Hospitals in the eclipse zone would be on high alert simply from the temporary increased population.

Lake Marion, SC for example is going to have 100,000 visitors with only enough hospital beds for a few thousand, if you include all regional hospitals.

There was a total eclipse seen over Cornwall, England 1999. It passed with minimum fuss. Eclipse over the USA and the nation is gripped by hysterical nonsense.

Staring at the eclipse will burn your retinas. The blindness is permanent.

It's not 'first hand knowledge.' It's your alleged fiancee that works in a hospital, not you, and as you've uploaded no screenshots of that alleged email, this is only heresay.
Unless you're in one of the 'totality zones' where there is likely to be a sudden increase in visitors to the region to view the eclipse, there's no good reason to alert hospital personnel.

I think about stuff like out west with the dry conditions. Some folks from other areas of the country not realizing how easy a wildfire starts will be camping out ahead of time and roasting marshmallows and not dousing the campfires properly or flicking cigarette butts out the windows as they cruise down the road. Imagine a large wildfire racing across a landscape full of eclipse tourists on already clogged roads.I shudder at the thought.(sounds like the makings of a tv movie-of-the-week) And, yeah, I do sit around thinking of worst case scenarios in all things, that way one can hatch a plan to survive ahead of time!
