Midwest People Are The Friendliest in America
Illinois resident checking in here.

I hate that all of Illinois gets labeled as liberals.

It's only Chicago and a few suburbs, but politicians there are so ridiculously crooked.

Get outside a 50 mile radius of Chicago and most people in Illinois and the Midwest for that matter are the best people in the country. We are the type of neighbors anyone would love to have.

We help each other out on a whim. Midwest people are the kind of people that a random Saturday night party could break out in a driveway.

If you're grilling out, you happily wave your neighbors over and throw more meat on the grill and offer a beer.

You're out snow blowing your driveway, you hit your neighbors too just on principal.

I've lived on both the East Coast and the West Coast and I can tell you, there is no better place than in the Midwest.

I agree. We have a lot of midwest transplants here in Dallas. The suckiest people on Earth tend to be in LA. At least New Yorkers will acknowledge you exist and speak to you.

Re: Midwest People Are The Friendliest in America
I miss it, the biggest difference between midwest people and the people here on the PNW coast is that people from the midwest can actually carry on a conversation.

They think more quickly and talk more quickly and they are actually attentive and responsive and have manners.

As opposed to people here who don't know what to do when you make some innocuous neighborly comment, like at the grocery store, when you're brushing past in the aisle, or when you meet your neighbor in the hall, they just stare at you like cattle.

I'm only exaggerating slightly. The difference between midwesterners and people here is night and day.

I spent most of my life in MN and then WI,IA,IL,MO,NE. MN,IL,MO residents are the most friendliest people of all.

East Coast states like NY,NJ,CT are shitholes and people are rude mfers. I like the Rhode Island though. The people of RI are very nice to outsiders until you meet an Italian.

Re: Midwest People Are The Friendliest in America
Spoken for truth OP. People living in places like NYC, LA and other places on the coast have no idea how great life is in the Midwest.

Things are pretty simple in the Midwest and people in neighborhoods almost become family themselves from my experience.

Texas is pretty kick ass too. Same feel, just different climate.

That's actually fairly true. I drive through rural Illinois every week to pick up loads. Mostly farming and ag communities. Just heartland America like Kansas and Texas. You'd never know it by judging from Chicago.

Just move from Illinois to California...Bay Area.

People here are not friendly at all. They turn their heads and don't even want to make eye contact...when you smile and say hello, they ignore you. IT IS TERRIBLE.

Yep, been there man. It's so crazy. I lived in a neighborhood in Southern California and met one neighbor. Everyone else kept to themselves.

You move into a house in a neighborhood in the Midwest, you will be invited to a BBQ your first weekend there.

Non Mid-Westerner's don't even know how great people can be.
