Too much iron....you're prostate will not thank you, especially if you're over 40

Tasmania's biggest fan, Charles spent his childhood in Hobart, wheeling his bike between the beach and the bush. It was the '70s, man – Tasmania was a magical, laid-back place to be a kid. Like so many other islanders he was lured away in his twenties by the mainland big smoke – but he returns to the small smoke as often as possible.

Is this report from the EPA, who are using our taxes to do reports like this to keep us healthy? Why is everyone laughing?

Billions for a Paris Climate Agreement, when our water supply needs work? Come on...

Does anyone remember, about 10 years ago, there was a toilet bowl cleaner with TEFLON in it? Pretty sure it was made by Clorox. I remember seeing that in the store and thinking, bad, really bad idea--what moron came up with that!?

More than likely safe:

Cast Iron - (But you can get too much iron from it). It heats evenly and lasts forever

Copper - It heats evenly but is EXPENSIVE

Stainless Steel - Not for amateurs and takes more work.

Aluminum - See Stainless Steel

Ceramic - People swear by it, but we don't know long term.

ROCKS - Time-tested, ancestor approved.

yep, cast iron for me too. I used to use teflon years ago but impossible to keep in good shape. They wear out and you are always buying new ones. When I learned about how toxic teflon is (developed for the military), I never used the teflon products again. Then I went to stainless with aluminum bottom, wasn't bad but cooked poorly. So now using cast iron and I love it, also adds iron to your bloodstream as well.

My cast iron (black pot) was purchased in the 1930's, and has been passed along from generation to generation and now it is our turn. Talk about making a nice blackened redfish filet, or that rascal makes the best roux, praline, chicken stew, jambalaya, shrimp stew, you name it and it will deliver, (not for red sauces). They are the best.

No toxins that I can detect, the original owner lived to the ripe old age of 86, the 2nd owner 83 both families lived long and healthy lives, and we have had it since 2004.

Cast Iron baby.

PFOA was used for decades to make DuPont's Teflon coating, a nonstick surface for frying pans and other applications, and in 3Ms Scotchgard carpet protectant. Under EPA pressure, the companies agreed to phase out the chemicals beginning in 2000.

In February, DuPont and its spin-off Chemours agreed to pay $671 million to settle more than 3,500 lawsuits involving the leaks of PFOA from its plant in Parkersburg, West Virginia, into community water supplies.

They've killed us all. I've been ghosted and banned every time I tried posting about it.

Nat Geo did a documentary on us last month.

Lawyers in the suit won't even call you back. My wife has three of the illnesses, has had surgeries, etc, etc. I have two, maybe more. What are they doing with the money? They sure as heck don't want any clients. We are the walking dead.

It's not just one town, water for a 50 mile radius is full of the crap. Same problems in Delaware.

Google up 'see eight', except use the letter C and the number 8, together, like seeeight. (trying not to be banned)

those shitty non-stick pans are a plague
once you overheat them the coating starts to come off.
Sooner or later everyone accidentally does it.
Tardcases by the billions, clueless, ruin them left and right, then they just toss them out, and go to Walmart FOR SOME NEW MADE IN CHINA toxified, fall-apart garbage, all brought to you by your friendly neighbourhood dept. store mass murderers, in conjunction with negligent health standards, and your local reckless politicians working for the murder maniac oligarchs to bring you cheap imports so they don't have to pay you living wages.
OH and ahh, this all made possible by your friendly neighbourhood psychopathic, suicidal nuclear blackmail artists, who intentionally don't get along and play nice together, so we are force fed their neuro toxins as a condition that they not incinerate the planet outright.

Toxic shit like this is also known to be absorbed, rather than just having ingestion as a requisite to kill.
Not to mention Water evaporates, the contaminates remain as residue, then turn to dust and become airborne, so your screwed and we're all going to die from this that and the other thing.

Testicular cancer is one illness linked to it. My friend died at 40 with it.

Then kidney cancer, ulcerative colitis, and a few more.

Every town around here got water filters, but my town just says.. "it's almost undetectable here". But we're smack dab in the center of polluted areas. EPA lower the ppm, and a town to the north shut down their water until filters could be installed. Meanwhile they piped water from the "almost undetectable" source.

Filters don't remove it all anyway, they said so.

Uncle dupie even changed his name. He's c h e m o u r s now.

Bet this thread disappears soon.

Every man, woman, and child tested in the US has some level of this in their blood. It's been found in umbilical cord testing too. It's worldwide.

Google and read. See-eight science panel has been at the forefront of this.

Sorry, I'll try not to post further. It just fires me up how this was handled. Life expectancy here is around 55, it's sad watching everyone die. Swept under the rug for decades, because of commerce, taxes, and jobs.

how bout the newer ceramic non stick pans?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 75057144

They are a real joy to cook with. Much better than non stick pans. With my ceramic pan I am able to make French omelets with ease. I just had one fulled with colby cheese and green chilies. Better than a restaurant could make by far.

What's the best type of cookware to use if you want it to be at least somewhat non-stick? Or is that a No Go?

What should we be buying then, instead?

Recommendations?
