Frank Silva (who played Bob) died in 1995. I saw his name in the credits last night but don't remember seeing him. Anybody catch it?

So that makes 4 dead cast members. That's kind of creepy.

I think it's out of respect, especially when their characters have been mentioned in context to a continuing story.

The mere mention of them also brings them fully to mind, in various scenes that replay in our memories.

That's pretty cool.

Bob was mentioned in Evil Coop's phone call to the Phillip Jeffries imposter, as was Major Briggs.

We also heard Major Briggs mentioned by his son Bobby, while talking to the Sheriff.

We also saw his face speaking as he drifted past Coop in the Milky Way.

It's nice to see all of you starting to comment more on the new shows. I've been pretty busy this Memorial Day weekend - I hope everybody is having a great holiday - but I've got some time right now so I'm going to plow through the rest of these pre-Parts 3 & 4 comments...

You are right. It is on so many levels. In a way, it's similar to things like The Beatles. I remember coming home once still high on some hallucinogenic drug. I had been tripping hard just a few hours previously to - among other things - Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band. My grandmother stopped me on my way to my room to tell me she had just heard the most beautiful song on the radio and asked me if I had a copy of it. It was "Let It Be" by The Beatles.

So yeah, something for everybody. As well as a completely different interpretation by each as to what it ultimately is about or means. Though I do think that we are headed towards a very final ending.

You won't be disappointed. All I can say is you might want to watch Parts 1 & 2 together and then Parts 3 & 4. It's a lot all at once and the breakup between the two batches is a good place to pause.

Oh yeah. Both then AND now. It is ultimately about a struggle for control of our world which has been going on since the beginning of mankind. And that is surely evident in the new shows. Modern technology meant for trapping and studying life forms from other dimensions - like CERN - are represented in the glass box technology.

And the old shows were interesting because of the underlying truths about incest, ritual abuse, owls used as screen memories (which was usually associated with UFO abductions), the fact that "aliens" themselves might be more interdimensional than interplanetary (which wasn't discussed much back then), etc.

I think you might really like it. It is about the ultimate struggle between good and evil and the duality of it all. I find it fascinating on a VERY deep level. And David Lynch is quite an artist. He has no agenda. If anything he is very anti-establishment in a very constructive and real way. He knows that we all know the truth of our existence in a deep and subconscious way and he tries to dig deep within himself (he is big on transcendental meditation) and bring some of it out in his work.

Yeah, Jeffries is vital to the story. And, like Agent Chester Desmond - the one played by Chris Isaak that you mentioned - he also disappeared. Agent Desmond hasn't been seen or heard from since reaching for the jade ring that he found lying underneath Teresa Bank's trailer in the Fat Trout Trailer Park (the place with the telephone pole with the big number six on it) in Deer Meadow. I don't know if we will, but he easily could pop up somewhere.

As for Jacques Renault, I don't buy the "beard signalling a different character" scenario. You may very well be right, but something isn't quite right about the updated town of Twin Peaks to me. The actors being brought back are being brought back for a reason. Because not everybody is. Some people that have begged to be on the new show - like Joan Chen - was denied that chance. And she had the best reason for doing so. Her twin sister. And if you wanna know more, we're gonna have to talk about Judy.










I never said anything about that being a different reality. I've never thought that. My only comment was "is it future or is it past, indeed" because of the time switch with them being alive and repeating what happened earlier. But I'm pretty sure that we're looking at the same scene from different cameras, so to speak.










I'll be waiting to see what you have to say about it. I am definitely getting a Windom Earle vibe, myself. I'm not convinced that the symbol on the card is the same one on the ring, though. It looks close, yet different to me. And like you said, why wouldn't Evil Cooper mention that if it was? But I agree, Evil Cooper is not as smart as he thinks he is (or we thought he would be). Someone is getting the better of him in all of this, so far.










That's an interesting approach to watching it. I had people surrounding me that wasn't familiar and needed to take the ride from the beginning. And I couldn't not watch it. Glad you're enjoying it.

I believe BOB is looking for more power through aliens. Evil Cooper shows the card to Darya and it is Ace of spades with a strange picture on it. I believe it is the alien we saw in the box that was kind of warping around while staying still in the box. The scratches on the card around the drawing of "the alien" represent this warping around it was doing while in the box. A = Alien.

I liked Gordon's office with the pictures of the mushroom cloud on one wall and Kafka on the other.

Here we go. Let's see what everybody has to say now that two more parts have been seen and there are NO RESTRICTIONS on what you can post about here anymore. I'll post a synopsis along with some questions for Part 3 at the end. So, let's rock...










Heya Morgan! I can tell your brain is as tied up in knots over all of this as mine is. Finally, some watchable television, huh?

I don't know about Dr. Jacoby or his golden shovels, but I AM starting to seriously wonder if the real Laura Palmer is still alive and that finding, releasing and saving her will be what the show is ultimately about - with Agent Cooper having to be sacrificed somewhere along the way because all things come at a price. You may be right that The Giant's "it cannot be said aloud now" could pertain to Laura speaking the truth to Agent Cooper. He looked shocked at whatever she told him. I'm not sure what the other reference you made is to someone else suffering the consequences of talking to Cooper.

I'm still not convinced that the playing card is the ring symbol. Though it very well could be. I don't think Hastings' secretary knows anything about Dougie, but who knows. Buckhorn is a very degenerate town. There's a piece of music from Fire Walk With Me called "The Black Dog Runs At Night" so when I saw the dog leg in the evidence bag I thought to myself "not anymore". And yes, there's definitely a network of helpers - on BOTH sides. Whether all are completely human or not is still in the air.

There is for sure a good deal of face gouging going on with the victims. But as for the glass box, it seemed more like it captured Agent Cooper coming back into our reality and then being rejected because there was already one of him here (meaning Evil Cooper/BOB). We literally see this reality reject him and spit him back into the void. He is later allowed to enter reality number three because the "him" in THAT reality - meaning Dougie Jones - is no longer there. If I'm right, we have been watching the town of Twin Peaks from reality number three this whole time and that is why it seems so different. The reality we watched during the Teresa Banks/Laura Palmer murders was number six according to the telephone pole outside the Fat Trout Trailer Park. Either that or the number fifteen reality that Agent Cooper kept seeing when he was in the cube with the Asian woman before she took him up to the roof. Cooper is carrying the key to his room at The Great Northern so I imagine that someone will put two and two together and try to take him there to jog his memory. That's what I'm waiting for, because if this world's Cooper was Dougie Jones, then this world's town of Twin Peaks will be different.

Yes, Dougie is a marked man. But why? What exactly did he do prior to getting sucked out to The Waiting Room/Lodges that has hired guns chasing him down?

I hadn't thought of it, but the other man Bill said he suspects Phyllis of having an affair with probably IS Evil Cooper having clandestine meetings with her.

Everything about the John Doe body currently points to it being Major Briggs. We know from The Secret History Of Twin Peaks that when Evil Cooper contacted him, Briggs believed that Cooper was his new government contact (replacing Colonel Doug Milford who had just died on his honeymoon). God only knows what he shared with Evil Cooper before getting himself killed. The fact that the John Doe's identity is being covered up by military intelligence adds to the thought that it is Major Briggs.

And yes, if Kyle doesn't win an Emmy for his portrayal of ALL of the Coopers - or at the very least get a serious nomination - then we'll know that the fix is in.










His only "scene" in the new shows so far was his head floating in space saying the word "blue rose". The information is from things other people have said on the show - Evil Cooper and his policeman son Bobby - and from the book The Secret History Of Twin Peaks (highly recommended).










Al I can add is that the location on the left of the map is the Bear Lodge Mountains - VERY sacred ground as well. It is considered part of the Bearlodge District. Most of the Bear Lodge Mountains is across the border in Wyoming including a little monument - the first national monument to be declared in that area - called Devils Tower.










Evil Cooper was definitely the last person to talk to Major Briggs who apparently died in a fire the next day. But that was back in 1989. The body in the bed sure looks like it could be him. But it would have had to have been kept on ice for a decade and a half. And I'm pretty sure that they recovered the body from the fire.











I've watched Parts 1 & 2 four times each. I'll be rewatching Parts 3 & 4 this weekend for the fourth time with a friend. I'm on the third viewing now and taking notes for the thread.










Two words - "Blue Rose"










I didn't even know that that was a rule here until now. Well, they can expect three pins a week on this thread for the rest of the summer.










I don't think that was a coincidence either. But the Major died a long time ago. He was brought to Twin Peaks by Colonel Douglas Milford in 1982 to run Listening Post Alpha - searching the skies and the woods near Twin Peaks for other worldly signals - and to continue compiling an archive of history concerning the town of Twin Peaks and the mysteries surrounding it. After Milford died on his honeymoon, Briggs went to Listening Post Alpha, where he found a final message from Milford saying that he had regrets involving their work, but that he thought Briggs should continue with the research. Briggs then decided that the person needed to complete his and Milford's work was Dale Cooper not knowing that the man walking around was no longer Agent Cooper, but was the Evil Cooper doppelgänger. And so they met on March 27, 1989 just before midgnight. After the meeting, Briggs went to Listening Post Alpha on his own, fearing that he might have misinterpreted Milford's final message. Briggs then sent out a 'MAYDAY' signal. The day after the meeting, following the 'MAYDAY' signal, Briggs died in a fire in the station. And no one in Twin Peaks has seen Evil Cooper since.

Things like this - along with the familiar face of Anonymous Girl - are starting to make me wonder if Agent Cooper is still back inside The Black Lodge and this is all in his mind. Perhaps we are finally seeing the madness that occurs when you are trapped inside The Black Lodge.










I'm not seeing a lot of disagreement on that thought here.

You should already know about the Blue Rose cases from Fire Walk With Me. They are indeed the X-Files of the Twin Peaks FBI world. Project Blue Book was terminated in December 1969 so they couldn't be directly related to it. But that could be where they came up with the name.

David Lynch has said many times lately that all that you REALLY need to watch before the new series is the movie Fire Walk With Me. He has also said that the scene with "Lil" at the beginning of the movie - that introduces us to Blue Rose cases - is the most important scene of the film. So here it is...













I'm pretty sure it was the rich red color that made Dougie Cooper think about The Waiting Room/Lodges.










Yes, the Good or Evil Jeffries was in New York so we can assume he/she/it is tied in with the glass box billionaire if not the person himself. The fact that he knew about the meeting between Major Briggs and Evil Cooper is very telling. It tells us that he/she/it has an inside source with the FBI if not an agent themselves. More on this when we get to Part 4. I don't trust ANYBODY or ANYTHING at this point. There's some wonky crap going on.










Yeah, I hadn't thought about One Eyed Jackgo awayer could very well have seen one like it there (or something similar).





















When The Evolution Of The Arm asks Cooper if he remembers his doppelgänger there is a quick flashback with Evil Cooper and BOB together featuring the late Frank Silva.










Not really. It's been 25 years. And some of them weren't exactly spring chickens when it all started. Just wait until it's all over - there's a LOT more people who aren't with us anymore from the old shows who will probably be mentioned.










And Catherine Coulson and Miguel Ferrer managed to actually film their parts before dying, though both were very sick. Now THAT'S some dedication!








Okay. Time to analyze Part 3. This was my favorite episode so far. I loved the way it started with our beloved Agent Cooper lost in space and time. The dream sequence of the new shows, IMHO. So here's a synopsis of Part 3 - what happened in the show, what we learned, and what we have new to discuss...



PART 3

---OPENING CREDITS - Laura Palmer's face superimposed over the falls and then as it fades - brand new shots of the falls, the red curtains from The Waiting Room/Black Lodge, and the floor of The Waiting Room/Black Lodge.
---???????????????????? - Agent Cooper continues to fall through what appears to be a kind of limbo or void; suddenly he sees some pinkish purple smoke which he enters and then soon finds that he has landed in a metallic looking cube surrounded by water; Cooper finds a doorway and enters; time moves differently here - not forward or backwards, but a mixture of both; inside is an Asian woman named Naido with skin flaps covering her eyes - a blind seer - seated in front of a fireplace; Cooper asks where he is, but gets no reply; Naido touches Cooper's face and then suddenly there is a loud banging sound; Naido motions for Cooper to be quiet and Cooper sees what appears to be a large electrical outlet with the number fifteen on it; Cooper approaches the outlet greatly disturbing Naido who pushes him violently away from it; Naido leads Cooper down a hallway to a ladder which they then climb to the roof; we then see that instead of water surrounding the cube, it is now soaring through deep space; there is a large furnace looking thing on the top of the cube with a lever attached to the side of it which Naido goes over to and pulls down; it dims the lighting surrounding them and it appears to electrocute Naido and she goes flying off into space; Agent Cooper then sees the floating head of Major Garland Briggs who utters two words, "blue rose"; Cooper then climbs back down the ladder to the room with the fireplace where there is now someone called American Girl sitting there (who for some reason is played by Phoebe Augustine who played Ronette Pulaski originally); Cooper notices that the electrical outlet in the room now has the number three on it and a table next to the outlet has a vase with a single blue rose in it; we watch as American Girl's watch changes from 2:52 to 2:53 at which time the outlet begins to hum with electrical power.
---Buckhorn, South Dakota - Evil Cooper - suddenly not looking so good - is barreling down the highway in his Lincoln; the clock on his dashboard reads 2:52 and a half and the electrical outlet where a cigarette lighter would go is starting to hum.
---???????????????????? - Agent Cooper continues to stare at the electrical outlet labelled three which is humming and appears to be trying to draw Cooper inside of it; American Girl tells him, "when you get there you will already be there".
---Buckhorn, South Dakota - Evil Cooper is starting to drive erratically and the hum from the electrical outlet in the car continues to buzz loudly.
---???????????????????? - Agent Cooper seems hesitant to be sucked up by the electrical current evidently flowing from outlet three; the banging starts up again and American Girl tells him, "you'd better hurry, my mother's coming"; Special Agent Dale Cooper is sucked inside the electrical outlet labelled three except for his shoes which are left behind.
---Buckhorn, South Dakota - Evil Cooper starts seeing double and he finally crashes and flips the Lincoln on a hill off the side of the highway; as the car comes to a crashing halt Evil Cooper begins feeling sick to his stomach (though he fights off the urge to throw up), the dashboard clocks flips to 2:53, and the electrical outlet begins humming even louder; the red curtains from The Waiting Room appear before him.
---Las Vegas, Nevada - In a development named Rancho Rosa, a black prostitute named Jade is helping her client - a man named Dougie Jones who looks EXACTLY like Agent Cooper - get dressed; Dougie woke up with his left arm numb; Jade takes her money and then slips off to the bathroom to get cleaned up and dressed; we see that Dougie is wearing the jade ring; Dougie appears to be feeling quite nauseous and suddenly drops to the ground.
---Buckhorn, South Dakota - Evil Cooper continues to fight back the urge to throw up though everything around him is starting to turn beet red.
---Las Vegas, Nevada - Dougie Jones is crawling down the hallway towards the bathroom while Jade takes a shower and when he reaches it he finds it is locked; the electrical outlets in the hallway hum as he moves past them into another bedroom where Dougie pukes up last night's dinner which includes what looks like a hunk of creamed corn, but is probably just Dougie's garmonbozia (pain and sorrow); there is a flash - which Jade can hear over the sound of the shower - as Dougie disappears from existence.
---Buckhorn, South Dakota - Evil Cooper can still see the red curtains of The Waiting Room superimposed over the world he is in, but suddenly he can also see Dougie Jones sitting on a chair in The Waiting Room; the car clock flips to 2:54, the vision of red and the red curtains fade away, and Evil Cooper begins throwing up huge amounts of garmonbozia.
---The Waiting Room (The Red Room) -Dougie Jones sits in a chair in The Waiting Room with Phillip Gerard standing over him (Dougie is missing his shoes since he never got a chance to find them and put them on); Dougie says he feels funny and asks what is happening; Phillip Gerard says, "someone manufactured you, for a purpose, but I think now that's been fulfilled"; Dougie watches as his hand starts shrinking to release the jade ring onto the floor; Dougie's head disappears leaving black smoke and a golden orb where it used to be; the rest of him disappears and then there is what looks like the head of The Evolution Of The Arm - which Phillip Gerard averts his eyes from - which quickly changes to a burning looking head with something (garmonbozia?) coming out of it; it appears to join the golden orb and in a flash the two join into one until all that is left in the chair where Dougie Jones was sitting is the golden orb; Phillip picks the ring up off the floor and the golden orb off of the chair and places the ring back on the table where we have seen it before (we don't yet know what he did with the golden orb); the red curtains dissolve into...
---Las Vegas, Nevada - ...the electrical outlet in the room where Dougie Jones was just a moment before; Special Agent Dale Cooper moves through the electrical outlet like black smoke into the room where he materializes on the floor next to the pile of puke that Dougie Jones left; Jade finds Dougie Cooper - wondering where he got the new suit and haircut - and takes him outside to leave; she retrieves some (original Dougie's) shoes; searching Dougie Cooper's pockets for keys - there are two cars in the driveway - she finds Cooper's room key (#315) for The Great Northern Hotel in Twin Peaks, Washington; finding nothing else she gives him a ride in her yellow Jeep Wrangler, quickly passing by a street named Sycamore; two men are arriving at the housing complex to apparently kill Dougie Jones, but as the Wrangler drives by, Dougie Cooper (who looks exactly like a thinner Dougie Jones) ducks to retrieve his Great Northern room key and the men think that Jade is alone as she drives by; one of the men plants an explosive device on the bottom of Dougie's car that is still in the driveway, turns it on, and leaves; in the house across the street a little kid watches the man put the explosive device on Dougie's car while his drug addled mother keeps repeating "119" over and over again before taking a pill with a glass of alcohol and then lighting a cigarette.
---Buckhorn, South Dakota - Two State Highway Patrol troopers find Evil Cooper and his crashed Lincoln; the first trooper to reach the car begins wretching from the smell of the garmonbozia that Evil Cooper threw up (remember, there was a LOT of it).
---Twin Peaks, Washington - Hawk sticks a "Donut Disturb" sign on the conference room door and then joins Andy and Lucy who tell him that they looked all through the old files and can't find anything that is missing; Lucy confesses to having eaten some evidence years ago in the form of a chocolate bunny that is now missing - though Hawk finally decides that "it's not about the bunny"; Dr. Jacoby sits outside with a gas mask on spraying his recently delivered shovels with gold paint (we are literally watching paint dry for over two minutes - which has got to be Lynch's comment for his most staunchest critics).
---Las Vegas, Nevada - Jade drops Dougie Cooper off at the Silver Mustang Casino, gives him five dollars, and tells him to "call for help"; when he continues to sit in her car she tells him, "you can go out now" which makes him think of when Laura Palmer said the same thing to him in The Waiting Room; Dougie Cooper goes to the cashier and trades in his five dollar bill for some gambling tokens (when asked what he is going to play he answers "call for help" which seems to unnerve the cashier a bit); Dougie Cooper wanders over to the slot machines where he watches a guy win a jackpot and yell "hellOOOooo"; when he sees a Waiting Room/Lodges symbol (red curtains and floor design) over a slot machine Dougie Cooper goes over, slips in a coin, pulls the lever, says "hellOOOooo" and wins a jackpot; seeing another symbol he goes over to that machine - this time he is being watched by an old homeless woman - and does the same thing, winning another jackpot; he sees the next machine with a Waiting Room/Lodges symbol over it and points so that the old homeless woman can play it and win, but she just gives him the finger and says "no"; Dougie Cooper wanders around and sees a number of other machines with the Waiting Room/Lodges symbol hovering over them; he goes to one of them, puts in a coin, pulls the lever, says "hellOOOooo", and wins the jackpot; the old homeless woman sees what is happening and goes over to the machine that Dougie Cooper had pointed out earlier to her and wins a jackpot.
---Philadelphia, Pennsylvania - At FBI Headquarters, FBI Deputy Director Gordon Cole, FBI Agent Albert Rosenfield, FBI Agent Tamara Preston and others are sitting around a conference table discussing the murder case of a man accused of killing his wife - the man claims that he could tell them who committed the crimes but that it would breach national security so instead he placed clues in his garden in Georgetown that would identify the killer; after the others leave, Gordon and Albert have Tamara (Tammy) Preston tell them what she found while investigating the glass box murders in New York City; she tells them that the NYPD doesn't have a clue and doesn't even know who owns the building, there were guards on duty 24/7 and none of them can be found, only Sam and Tracey's bodies have been identified, and that they confiscated digital files pertaining to the glass box which apparently occasionally show some blurred shapes passing through; but on the night of the murders one and only one - of the cameras caught an image of the alien looking entity, but as soon as it moved it disappeared; there were no prints, no DNA, no fibers; they are interrupted by Cole's secretary who informs him that on his phone is Cooper; instead of Cooper it is some authority from South Dakota who mentions Cooper and "trouble"; Cole informs Albert and Tammy that they are going to a South Dakota prison for an interview with Cooper at 9:00am sharp; Gordon leaves and Albert comments "the absurd mystery of the strange forces of existence" followed by "how about a truckload full of valium?".
---Twin Peaks, Washington - Back to The Bang Bang Bar (aka The Roadhouse) for a performance by The Cactus Blossoms as various couples dance.
---CLOSING CREDITS - The credits roll over the rest of the performance by The Cactus Blossoms; this episode is dedicated "In Memory Of Don S. Davis and Miguel Ferrer" - Major Garland Briggs and FBI Agent Albert Rosenfield.








Of course, we have some new questions after the third installment. Some are less important than others and some probably answer themselves. But here's a list of what I came up with from Part 3 (if you can think of any more, please list them)...



QUESTIONS

1.) Where is the place of the pinkish purple smoke that holds the cube surrounded by water? Is this just an extension of the non-exist-ent world that Agent Cooper was thrown into by the doppelgänger of The Evolution Of The Arm?
2.) Where or what exactly is the cube? Not that it needs to BE anything. But what the hell? Is this a real place among the void or is it all just part of Cooper's subconscious?
3.) Why is the cube suddenly surrounded by space instead of water when they exit through the roof? It was pretty damp just a minute ago.
4.) What or who is the blind seer Asian woman Naido? Could she have any connection to the OTHER Asian woman in the series - Josie Packard (who we last left with her soul embedded in a wooden drawer handle)? Or possibly Josie's (twin?) sister, Judy?
5.) Who is "mother" that is causing all of the loud banging sounds? Whoever she or it is, they appear to be after our hero, Agent Cooper. Sound seems to really bother "mother". Tracey's screams of passion seemed to really piss off whatever came out of the glass box and killed her and Sam in Part 1. And Gordon Cole is also greatly affected by sound. What does this all mean?
6.) Where does the outlet labelled #15 lead? Either coming from or going to? Now, you guys all know that the electrical pole in Fire Walk With Me bugs me. I keep thinking that the big "6" on it is a label of sorts. But above the big six you can also see the following numbers - 24810. Which adds up to fifteen. So maybe the fifteen represents the world we have always known and which Agent Cooper is desperately trying to get back to. I'll post the part of Fire Walk With Me that I am talking about at the end of the questions (the pole also emits the Indian whooping sound made by The Man From Another Place/The Arm).
7.) What is the lever on the roof of the cube that causes the number on the electrical outlet to change once pulled? It reminds me of the levers from Eraserhead. In fact, in all the years since, I have never seen anything of Lynch's that resembled parts of Eraserhead like the new Twin Peaks does. There's a very cool cycle of his life's work being displayed in this new show.
8.) Where does Naido go after she is hurled off of the roof of the cube and into space? Is she dead? Is she now non-exist-ent? Did she ever exist in the first place? Or is she a figment of Cooper's imagination?
9.) Why does Major Briggs face appear in space? Is it really there? Or is Cooper just seeing it in his mind?
10.) Why does the electrical outlet change to #3 and what does this mean? I'm more than halfway convinced that it represents an alternate reality to the one we have been watching for all of these years.
11.) Why is American Girl played by the same actress who played Ronette Pulaski in the original series? Like the Jean-Michel Renault character, I don't believe that Lynch did this just to give these people work as new characters. Mainly because there are a LOT of people who wanted to be included in the new show and weren't. So what does this mean? Is Cooper's subconscious mind trying to jar him back to reality with familiar faces like Ronette and Major Briggs?
12.) Why is Dougie Jones so different - twenty extra pounds, different hair, etc. - from all of the other Coopers? We've been living with two Coopers for awhile now (25 years to be exact), but they look identical. Why is this one chubby with a bad haircut?
13.) How exactly was Dougie "manufactured" and by who? This question definitely bothers me. How can he be manufactured? Doesn't he live in his world? Wasn't he already there before he got pulled into all of this? Somebody sent two goons to kill him - he's got a life (even if it's a bad one). So what exactly does it mean that "someone manufactured" him? I've got some more thoughts on this, but I'm going to wait until I do a synopsis for Part 4.
14.) Why does Dougie end up turning into a golden orb? My brain keeps telling me to think - there is an explanation for this. But I am stumped.
15.) What's with the burning and puking head that merges with the golden orb? An even harder question to answer. It looked a lot like the head of The Evolution Of The Arm. But burned up and even weirder looking than the original.
16.) Who are the two men looking to take out Dougie and who do they work for? What in the heck did poor ol' Dougie Jones do to get a hit squad after him? And how is this going to affect our Dougie Cooper? If they know where he went to bang prostitutes they probably know where he lives and works.
17.) Why is the drug addicted mother across the street from the house where Dougie and Jade had their rendezvous repeatedly saying "119, 119, 119..."? Being a numerologist, David Lynch doesn't mess around with numbers. You can bet - even if only in his own mind - these numbers mean something. (On a side note, the drug addled mother was played by Hailey Gates who produces and hosts a great show called States Of Undress on the Viceland channel.)
18.) Why is Dr. Jacoby painting all of his new shovels gold? There sure is a LOT of odd golden things in this episode. So what do you suppose that the good doctor is up to with these?
19.) Why does The Waiting Room/Lodges logo hover over the slot machines when Dougie is in the casino? This also makes me wonder just how much of all of this is in Agent Cooper's mind.
20.) What is with the case that the FBI is talking about - the Congressman's dilemma - and what is the deal with the clues left? I don't really expect an answer. I just had to ask.

Yes, the dwarf was The Arm. But no, The Giant was never the body. Phillip Gerard/Mike is the body. The Giant is something else. I believe he is an inhabitant of The White Lodge and what we would call a guardian spirit over Agent Cooper. Giants are said to have inhabited the Earth long before this incarnation of mankind. In fact, according to The Secret History Of Twin Peaks, there were giants known to exist in and around the area of Twin Peaks, Washington by the Nez Perce Indians of the region. But you are right that we haven't seen The Giant since we met The Evolution Of The Arm. Just keep in mind that Carel Struycken is not credited as The Giant in these new shows, but instead as ??????? (whatever that means).

And everyone can talk about anything that they want to at this point. There are NO restrictions on the thread as long as it is David Lynch/Twin Peaks related.










I believe that BOB and the others ARE aliens in the sense that they are interdimensional beings who have found a way to infiltrate our world. For whatever purposes, we don't know or understand yet. It could have something to do with survival. Who knows? I don't think that the playing card is a picture of the glass box alien. But the scratches on the card sure are creepy.

Part 3 was definitely the strangest part so far. And Part 4 continues with some classic Lynch humor woven in like we haven't quite seen yet in this new series. It just keeps getting better. Anyways, time for a Part 4 synopsis followed by some new questions...



PART 4

---OPENING CREDITS - Laura Palmer's face superimposed over the falls and then as it fades - brand new shots of the falls, the red curtains from The Waiting Room/Black Lodge, and the floor of The Waiting Room/Black Lodge.
---Las Vegas, Nevada - At the Silver Mustang Casino, Dougie Cooper continues to win big while the owner of the casino stands by watching with his security guards; the old homeless woman asks "Mr. Jackpots" where the next winning machine will be and he points her in the right direction - making it his 30th Megaton Jackpot win; some friends of Dougie's - Bill and Candy Shaker - stop to say hello; they ask him if he wants to go home and reminds him that he lives on Lancelot Court near Merlin's Market in the house with the red door; they tell him that there is a line of cabs out front, but as Dougie Cooper heads towards the front door he is stopped by one of the casino workers who escort him to the owner's office; once in the office, Dougie Cooper stares at a pen holder made out of red dice; the owner gives him a bag with his winnings in it and sends him home in a limo; once home, Dougie Cooper is standing outside the limo with the driver when an owl flies by; Dougie's wife Janey (listed in the credits as Janey-E Jones) comes out frantic and pissed (Dougie's been gone for three days, has missed work, and has missed his son - Sunny Jim's - birthday); she questions his suit and his haircut, but soon forgives him when she sees all of the winnings he has brought home saying that there's enough there to "pay them back".
---Philadelphia, Pennsylvania - At FBI Headquarters, FBI Deputy Director Gordon Cole goes to see the Chief Of Staff who turns out to be Denise (formerly Dennis) Bryson to clear his trip to the South Dakota prison; Denise is already aware of the planned trip and the fact that Cole plans on taking Agent Tammy Preston with him which she questions (seeming just a little bit jealous); eventually she agrees to the trip, asks him if he's taking Albert with him, and wishes him good luck.
---Twin Peaks, Washington - At the Sheriff's station, Lucy is discussing the thermostat with Sheriff Frank Truman on a cell phone when the call starts breaking up; Sheriff Frank Truman walks through the front door and Lucy - thinking he is still far away and busy fishing - faints when she sees him (apparently Lucy has a hard time understanding how cell phones work); Sheriff Truman goes back to the Communications Room (which is a new high tech update to the Sheriff's Department) where we meet the 911 operator Maggie, Deputy Jesse Holcomb and Deputy Chad Broxford; Sheriff Truman learns that a boy - Daniel Craig - OD'd at the High School and that Andy took the case and spoke with the parents; on his way to the Conference Room to speak with Hawk, Sheriff Truman runs into Deputy Bobby Briggs who has been tasked with surveying the woods looking for whoever is bringing the drugs into town that has now caused a boy to OD (Sheriff Truman believes that it was Chinese designer drugs again); Andy tries to explain to Lucy how cell phones work and that people can be moving when they are talking on them (there seems to be something seriously wrong with Lucy - more than just the usual ditziness); in the Conference Room, Hawk is explaining to Sheriff Truman about the phone calls from Margaret Lanterman - The Log Lady; Deputy Chad makes fun of The Log Lady and Andy defends her; Sheriff Truman says goodnight to Chad and on his way out Chad says he's going to have a word with his pine cone; Deputy Bobby Briggs enters the room, sees the evidence laid out with Laura Palmer's picture leaned up against the evidence box, and breaks down (to the sound of Angelo Badalamenti's "Laura Palmer's Theme") sending us back to a moment that feels EXACTLY like the original series; they fill Bobby in on the search for something missing in the Agent Cooper case and he tells them that Agent Cooper was the last person to speak to his father - Major Garland Briggs - before he died back on March 28, 1989 (Bobby's mother had told him that Cooper came to see his father right before the Major died and Cooper left town); they are interrupted by another new officer, Deputy Jesse Holcomb who tells them that Wally Brando (Lucy and Andy's son who was born on Marlon Brando's birthday) is outside - prompting Lucy and Andy to run out to see him - and that he wishes to pay respects to Sheriff Truman; the meeting breaks up and Bobby once again looks at Laura's prom picture and sheds a tear; outside, Wally Brando (played beautifully by Michael Cera) leans on a motorcycle wearing an outfit identical to Brando's in The Young Ones and delivers a painfully long monologue complete with uncomfortable silences about wanting to pay his respects to his Godfather - the original Sheriff of our Twin Peaks, Harry S. Truman who is Frank's brother and apparently VERY sick - and then rambles on about his parents, how he also wants to announce that they can do what they want with his childhood bedroom and turn it into a study, how he has criss-crossed this great land of ours countless times and has thought a lot about Lewis and Clark (all the while peppering his speech with old Brando mannerisms and phrases).
---Las Vegas, Nevada - Dougie Cooper is waking up and about to get dressed (though you can tell that he is confused by his apparel); he suddenly gets a vision of Phillip Gerard in The Waiting Room/Lodges who tells him that he was tricked and that "now one of you must die"; the vision fades and Dougie Cooper is left having to pee BAD; Janey helps him to the bathroom where he has his first urination in possibly twenty-five years (which is quite large and scares him a little bit); then Dougie Cooper sees his face in the bathroom mirror and we are reminded of the infamous final "how's Annie?" scene from the end of Season 2 (and you can tell that Cooper senses it too); back in the bedroom, Janey is helping Dougie get dressed and notices that he is quite a bit thinner and his clothes don't fit right; Janey gives him his tie to put on himself and leaves; looking down the hallway after her, Dougie Cooper sees his son - Sonny Jim Jones - for the first time which causes Dougie Cooper to touch his lower stomach in an odd way; Sonny Jim gives him a thumbs up and he returns it smiling; Sonny Jim is obviously amused by his father acting so weird and the two go downstairs for breakfast; Dougie Cooper enters the kitchen with the tie draped over his head and proceeds to learn from his son how to eat pancakes; Janey serves him some coffee and it obviously triggers something in him, but when he gulps some down it looks like his mouth gets scalded (though he sure seems happy about having tasted it).
---Buckhorn, South Dakota - Back at the Buckhorn Police Department, Crime Scene Investigator Constance Talbot has gotten a hit on the prints of the John Doe body found with the head of Ruth Davenport and is explaining to Police Chief Mike Boyd and Detective Dave Macklay that the information on exactly who it is has been blocked by the military.
---Sioux City, South Dakota - FBI Deputy Director Gordon Cole, FBI Agent Albert Rosenfield, and FBI Agent Tamara Preston arrive at a regional airport in South Dakota and are driven straight to the Yankton Federal Prison where they are told that Evil Cooper was found after his car when off the road and that he threw up some kind of poison that sent one of the Highway Patrolmen that found him to the hospital; they are then shown the evidence found with Evil Cooper in the car - cocaine, a machine gun, and a dog leg; they are then shown a picture of Evil Cooper which Cole identifies by saying, "holy jumpin' George" and then are led to an interrogation room to talk to him; before punching the button to reveal Evil Cooper in the next room, Cole announces loudly, "ladies and gentlemen, I am going to speak now to Special Agent Dale Cooper"; the Warden leaves, Gordon pushes the button, and they are looking at Evil Cooper who talks REAL slow and deep and doesn't sound right; at one point he says it's "yrev, very good to see you" to Gordon, clearly saying one of the words backwards; he tells them that he has been working undercover with Phillip Jeffries all of these years and that he needs to be debriefed by Gordon and was on his way to talk to him when he got into his accident; at one point, he repeats himself like a programmed robot; then he says, "I've left messages" and starts staring at Albert with some very dark penetrating eyes; Gordon asks what messages those are and Evil Cooper says "messages so Phillip knows it's safe" to which Albert hangs his head in possible shame; they finish up their interview with Gordon assuring Evil Cooper that they are working on bringing him back home so that they can talk and Evil Cooper says, "I've never really left home, Gordon" and then smiles weirdly and gives Gordon a thumbs up; as they leave the prison, Gordon tells Warden Murphy to give Evil Cooper his private phone call and then to let him know all about it; once outside - in a scene shot completely with a heavy blue filter for some reason - Tammy tells them that Evil Cooper was heading west and not east to Philadelphia to talk to Gordon like he said he was and that people that have come in contact with Evil Cooper have become physically ill; Tammy asks Albert if he is feeling alright and who Phillip Jeffries is; Gordon accuses her of wearing a wire and she reminds him that he's the one that asked her to wear one; Gordon orders Tammy to go wait inside a nearby restaurant for them while they talk and then him and Albert watch her literally slink away; Gordon then turns up the volume on his hearing aid so that they can talk privately and Albert admits to having spoken to Phillip Jeffries years before regarding Agent Cooper and having given Jeffries some information because Jeffries said that Cooper's life was in danger - the information being who their "man was in Columbia" (who was then killed a week later); Gordon is hurt and confused and all he can keep saying is, "Albert!"; Albert moves his feet and it hurts Gordon's ears (because his hearing aid is turned up); Gordon says that Cooper didn't "greet" him properly and that something is VERY wrong and Albert agrees; when asked if he understands the situation Albert says, "blue rose" to which Gordon replies, "it doesn't get any bluer"; they then agree that before doing anything else about Cooper they need to have a certain person take a look at him - Gordon asks Albert if he still knows where she lives and Albert says he knows where she drinks.
---Twin Peaks, Washington - Back to The Bang Bang Bar (aka The Roadhouse) for a performance by Au Revoir Simone as various couples dance.

Another great installment. Less flipping around than in the first three parts and some deep scenes within locations. And the humor was GREAT in Part 4. That and the old Twin Peaks moment when Bobby sees Laura's Homecoming Queen photo should shut up the critics who say it doesn't feel like the old show. Because this one did in many ways. But that doesn't mean that we weren't left with a bunch of new questions. So here's a list of what I came up with from Part 4 (if you can think of any more, please list them)...



QUESTIONS

1.) What's with all of the King Arthur references - Sycamore Street, Lancelot Court, Merlin's Market - with Dougie Cooper's world? Is it just a coincidence that all of these things in Dougie Cooper's world have names similar to Glastonbury Grove?
2.) Why is Dougie Cooper so obsessed with the color red - his house door is red and he stares hard at the casino owner's red dice pen holder? Is it because the color red is so much a part of The Waiting Room/Lodges decor and - like the red curtain/floor symbols hovering over the slot machines - he is automatically drawn to it?
3.) Why is an owl seen flying overhead when Dougie Cooper is dropped off at home in the casino limousine? Another coincidence - or is he being watched by a denizen of The Waiting Room/Lodges?
4.) Why is Naomi Watts' character listed as Janey-E Jones in the credits? I've checked the Twin Peaks Wiki and various fan sites and no one lists Dougie Jones as Doug-E Jones. So what gives? Is there a connection at all with the movie WALL-E? It's about an abandoned Earth in 2805 where the only thing left behind were WALL-E robot trash compactors which have all since stopped functioning, except for one of them which has gained sentience.
5.) Who are the people that Janey Jones says they can now pay back with Dougie's casino winnings? This is a follow-up question as to the men who were trying to kill Dougie when he left the housing developement with Jade. We know from the credits of Part 3 that the two men were Gene and Jake and they mentioned meeting back at Mikey's. But is Mikey the boss or do they all work for somebody else?
6.) Where exactly was Dougie Jones during the three days that he went missing? We joined him on the third day when he was with Jade. But where exactly was he during those other two days and what was he doing?
7.) Does Denise Bryson have a thing for Gordon Cole? And did this start back when they were still Dennis?
8.) Why is Lucy even weirder and more high maintenance than she used to be - does she really not know how cell phones and thermostats work? Not a rhetorical question. I have my theories. There seems to be something seriously wrong with Lucy. Did she lose her son? Is that why the family Christmas picture she has at the Sheriff's station shows their kid to be about twelve? And is that why she is so much more ditzy than she used to be and Andy is even more doting.
9.) Who is the kid - Daniel Craig - who overdosed in the Twin Peaks High School? Sheriff Frank seemed to know who he was. Is the Craig family important to the updated town of Twin Peaks?
10.) Who is bringing the "Chinese designer drugs" into Twin Peaks? I'm going with Deputy Bobby Briggs. That would be why he became a cop to begin with - to protect the market that he took over after Leo stopped running it. He was upset to learn that a kid in the high school had died and went running off to the bathroom to compose himself after learning about it from Sheriff Frank. Which is also why he was so ready to burst into tears when he saw the picture of Laura Palmer. [In all fairness, this never entered my mind - my wife came up with this one and I think she's spot on.]
11.) What is the deal with Wally Brando and his birthday? Marlon Brando was born on April 3rd. Laura Palmer's body was found on the morning of February 23, 1989. Everything on the show happened within the next few weeks. Lucy was no more than two months pregnant at the annual Miss Twin Peaks Contest in March. Do the math. Either Wally Brando was NOT born on Marlon Brando's birthday or he is NOT Lucy and Andy's real son. Or in this particular reality, Marlon Brando was born in October.
12.) When Dougie Cooper touches the mirror, is he remembering his past life? It sure seems like it. But that would be odd considering that our good Cooper - who seems to have escaped the Lodges and entered into Dougie Jones' life and world - never had that particular mirror experience at The Great Northern. That was Evil Cooper. Just how intertwined ARE all of these different versions of Dale Cooper?
13.) Why does Dougie Cooper touch his lower stomach when he first lays eyes on his son, Sonny Jim? This is where I'm going to go out on a limb with a theory. Bear with me, this one is bizarre. Remember - at the end of Season 2 when Cooper is trapped in The Waiting Room/Black Lodge and he is being chased by his doppelgänger, he gets wounded in the exact same stomach area and begins to leave a trail of blood as he's running. Could Sonny Jim and possibly this whole Dougie reality have been manufactured with Cooper's own DNA?
14.) Why is the military blocking the identification of the John Doe body in Buckhorn, South Dakota? Could it possibly be the body of Major Briggs after all of these years? Or somebody else associated with the military's investigation into the Ghostwood Forest next to Twin Peaks?
15.) Why was Evil Cooper found with a dog leg in the trunk of his car? Don't ask me, I'm asking you. But when I first saw it I immediately thought of the odd little piece of music on the Fire Walk With Me soundtrack called "The Black Dog Runs At Night" and thought "not anymore".
16.) Who is Gordon Cole addressing ("ladies and gentlemen...") right before interviewing Evil Cooper in the prison? It's probably nothing, but I have to wonder exactly WHO Gordon will be turning this tape over to.
17.) Why does Evil Cooper talk so slowly during the prison interview? He sounds like a slightly slowed down tape recording.
18.) Why does Evil Cooper repeat himself like an automaton during the prison interview? Is he being programmed to speak?
19.) Why was Cooper leaving messages so that "Phillip knows it's safe"? Now that he got past the spewing of the garmonbozia could he be free of BOB or at least free enough of BOB that our old Cooper is really speaking and that he has been working undercover with BOB inside of him to learn "their" secrets. Could that be? Or is Evil Cooper just lying through "his" teeth (literally)?
20.) What does Evil Cooper mean when he says, "I never really left home"? Where or what is "home"? I found this extremely creepy.
21.) Why is there a deep blue filter used on the final scene in the parking lot with Gordon, Albert and Tammy and what does it mean? It doesn't get any bluer. And it must mean something. Is one of the three of them - FBI Deputy Director Gordon Cole, FBI Agent Albert Rosenfield or FBI Agent Tamara Preston - an actual "blue rose"? It's certainly a revealing scene (in more ways than one).
22.) What's with Tammy's slinky sexy walk? I just had to ask. She is an odd character, isn't she?
23.) What "greeting" was Gordon expecting to receive from Cooper that makes him realize that something is wrong? Cooper said or didn't say something wrong during the early banter of the interrogation that sent up a red flag with Gordon.
24.) How deep does Albert's involvement go with Evil Cooper, the Good or Evil Phillip Jeffries, or any of this? Albert is obviously involved in all of this in a way that, quite frankly, shocked me. Gordon's reaction was mine - utter disbelief. So what else is Albert hiding?
25.) Who was the "man in Columbia" that Albert sold out to Jeffries and Evil Cooper and what exactly was he up to that got him killed? And does it have anything to do with our story other than to add to just how slimy Albert has suddenly become?
26.) Who is the woman that Gordon and Albert wants to take a look at Evil Cooper to see what she thinks? My guess is that we're about to finally meet the infamous Diane. And I'll go one further and guess that she'll be played by Laura Dern.



I've told you what I think about Lucy and Wally and Bobby and Sunny Jim and Diane. But here's some more food for thought before Part 5 begins...

THE GLASS BOX/MOTHER - I saw something the other day that blew my friggin' mind and I've been dying to share it with all of you. It has made me rethink a LOT of what we're watching (and has me wondering just HOW to watch the rest of it). I'm not going to say anything else yet. Watch this and then we'll talk.




WHAT IS MISSING/HAWK'S HERITAGE - I believe that I've got this one figured out. What's missing in the evidence is the page in Laura's diary. From Laura's vision of a bloodied Annie in her bed during Fire Walk With Me - "My name is Annie. I've been with Dale and Laura. The good Dale is in the Lodge, and he can't leave. Write it in your diary". That's one of the pages that Leland/BOB tore out of her diary and the direct reason that led to him having to kill her - she was starting to talk and write about BOB. The page has been missing all this time and would lead to Hawk needing to save Cooper. Hawk's heritage comes into play when he has to figure out exactly HOW to get inside The Waiting Room/Lodges. In The Secret History Of Twin Peaks it is revealed that the explorer Meriwether Lewis was given the Owl Cave Ring by Twisted Hair, chief of the Nez Perce Indian tribe (Hawk is a Nez Perce Indian). The chief said that the ring had been a gift from a tribe of ‘white Indians’ who lived in the area, despite the fact that Lewis’ group were the first white men to explore that part of the New World.


CHERRY PIE - Now that we've seen our Cooper (maybe?) take his first sip of coffee in twenty-five years, it's time for him to be reunited with some cherry pie. Preferably from the Double R Diner. But who will actually be seen eating the first piece of cherry pie on the new shows? Dougie Cooper? Or someone else?


THE FINALE - I'm not ready to begin to guess the finale yet. But I do think that on the final or penultimate part of the movie there is going to be a funeral (or funerals) for Harry S. Truman (and possibly someone else). It'll be time to cry and say goodbye to our favorite television show and characters - all of them, not just Harry and the possible other current funeral (Cooper's?) that will be going on - right before the final 30-60 minutes of the best show ever (where, who knows, maybe Cooper will miraculously be saved - though he may need to sacrifice himself to ultimately save the REAL Laura Palmer).


JUDY - Or, if you dare, we can just talk about Judy...

I love how Morley cigarettes made an appearance on the episode tonight.

I saw it too! I love this show. I have to watch each episode multiple times. Anybody would, who is interested.

So we are definitely on a level above simple greed for land and lumbermills, right?

We have possible aliens, spiritual-demons, billionaires-involved-in-supernatural-portal-technology, black-lodges-of-the-font-of-evil-and-darkness. Along the way we see typical mortal cruelty and murder of-course. But it looks like Agent Cooper's investigation has led him into some limbo, timelessness, and mind-bending-realities that will test his existential-mettle. I mean he started the investigation due to Teresa Banks and Laura Palmer's deaths. But somehow all these other things are involved. Who the hell is Judy? Judy Garland with the red shoes? What does the Buenos Aires black box have to do with anything? What's a blue rose and what were purple ones doing in House Harkonnen in Dune?



What is in Buckhorn, SD that has any pertinence to anything?

And how is Albert slimy? He made a mistake, right? He didn't tell on the Columbia guy on purpose.

What is the weird couple in the transam snorting coke and going to a job interview doing?

Is it all just arty bullshit done for kicks with no rhyme or reason?

In Fire Walk with Me, Phillip Jeffries disappeared from and re-emerged in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

He mentions a Judy and receiving a letter from a young lady, which could have been her. He found something where she lived but when he appeared in the FBI HQ after he'd been missing he said he didn't want to talk about her.

Blue Rose is a code word for a case that is unexplained or may have supernatural/alien ties, perhaps even relating to Project Blue Book.

It appears that Major Garland Briggs' body is in Buckhorn, SD with Dougie's wedding ring found during the autopsy. We'll soon find out more about that, as the Air Force has dispatched someone to investigate.

The "weird couple" (Shelly's daughter Becky and Steven, the guy being interviewed by Mike Nelson earlier in the episode) remind me a lot of Laura and Bobby 25 years ago, coke and all.

This is exactly why I'm not quite ready to write thoughts yet.

Well...There's a theme or three that confuses me:

Dougie Jones goes missing for three days. When first seen, he is wearing the green jade Owl Cave ring...and is with a prostitute curiously named Jade, who does not appear to be anything but a normal gal.

The Ring found in Major Briggs' body appears to be Dougie's wedding ring from Janey E.

This seems to insinuate that the meeting Evil Coop refers to between Major Briggs and the Good/Evil Agent Jefferies was part of Evil Coop's plot to trade our Coop for Dougie.

(It also insinuates that a version of both Briggs and Jefferies were still 'alive' and operating on terra firma, at least until three days ago.)

However, it's a bit incomprehensible to believe that Major Briggs would be part of an evil plot to hurt Dale. I think he must swallow Dougie's ring to try to thwart the plan, realizing it was a scheme to prevent Evil Coop from returning to the Black Lodge.

Coop had a similar band ring that the Giant (??????) took from Coop as he lay bleeding out on the floor after being shot. It was returned to Coop from the 'void' the moment after he realized who it was that killed Laura Palmer.

Could Dale's ring have been part of the plan that Major Briggs thought would bring Coop back. Instead he sees it's not Dale's, swallows it, and gets killed for it.

Remember that Ruth's neighbor says she has not seen Ruth for 3 days...the same length of time Dougie was 'missing'. She's obviously part of a plot that spans from Las Vegas to North Dakota...and beyond, both literally and figuratively. And, Argentina...if you figure in that woman who becomes frantic when finding out that Dougie is still alive in Las Vegas, which seems to indicate that Dougie's $50,000 debt is much more involved than than it appears on the surface.

Could that angle have been an effort to eliminate Dougie here, so that Evil Coop's plan to stay is thwarted? Is there more than one faction trying to insure Dale Cooper returns, or, Evil Coop gets sent back?

We have WORLDS of trouble in play here! Of course, none of this makes sense yet because we're only starting out.

We'll eventually get more clues at how Dougie was created in the first place, well before the 1989 events in Twin Peaks ever unfolded, or, for at least as long as he and Janey are married. Every now and then we hear of our leaders being clones. This either means that there's a way to accelerate human aging, or, time is really happening all at once, and this Coop version was pulled from another dimension into this one within the past 25 years, specifically for this one purpose.

One thing interesting about recalling Agent Cooper's ring is that it brings up the ongoing mystery of WHY Josie Packard shot Agent Cooper in the first place, which makes no sense, unless there's an oriental spin spinning around in the void here.

Now we've seen another mysterious Asian woman, this time at the black cube, who appears to be trying to help Cooper escape, then purposely electrocutes herself before falling dead into the void of space. The Giant told Coop that things must not be said, and just like Laura in the Waiting Room, this woman attempts to speak to Coop...and

What any of this has to do with anything, if anything, is TBD.

I read that Judy was to be a 'prequel' story involving Agent Jefferies, and the thought was that July was Josie Packard's sister.

The story, if I am remembering this right, was that only a portion of Judy's sister remained, and that the 'proof' that this referenced Josie was when Josie's face is seen trapped on the night table drawer knob in the room where she disappears at the Great Northern Hotel. There is also a story that the shadowy figure we saw running/moving behind the curtains in the Waiting Room was the other part of Josie, that did cross over.
