The most diehard of Peakies are in full meltdown mode over how bad the finale is. Some examples....... "Sorry, that was a load of shit, regardless of the people who are going to hail it as masterful." "No. That was bad. They fucked up the last episode so badly they shouldn't have even made the season." "This is worse than the LOST ending. He better be writing another season or a movie." Is there going to be another season, because I don't understand THAT ending. Well...I guess I can 'see it', but it doesn't feel like 'an ending'. Actually, the 'What year is this' ending is a bit funny in its own way, but it just seems to beg for more. Hmm. User ID: 21876819 United States 09/03/2017 10:39 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Honestly, it isn't. The writing is terrible, the new characters are bland and one-dimensional, there's no point to the majority of the scenes, and even the original characters are a mockery of what they once were. The formerly interesting character of Dr. Jacoby is even used to mock Alex J o n e s and conspiracy theorists, and Lynch made himself the star of the show, rather than Dale Cooper. It's shameful. There's an excellent thread called "Twin Peaks Return: The Profoundly Disappointed Support Group" that lists hundreds of detailed reasons why this season is so dreadful - written by fans of Twin Peaks, no less. I can't list the direct link to the thread, here, but you should be able to find it via a web search engine. If you're looking for a television series that explores the exact same ideas, symbols and issues, though, you should check out "Carnivale", if you haven't seen it, yet. It ran from 2003-2005, it's absolutely brilliant, and it looks as though many of the elements from that show were poorly plagiarized in the new season of Twin Peaks. You're sounding like a low grade hipster. I remember you guys from the 90's. You were into Twin Peaks to be cool, quirky, ironic and dark. It's not the 90's any more. The levels to Twin Peaks go too deep for your ilk. Carnivale was great too. But it was more of a child's tale compared to the mysterious monolith of Twin Peaks. “Do not proffer sympathy to the mentally ill; it is a bottomless pit. User ID: 74741138 United States 09/03/2017 11:23 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Wow what a ride! I'm sure some people are going to be upset with how this season ended, and that's okay. I personally liked it and am hoping for more, but that's up to Lynch & Frost, Showtime, and the cast. I'll be updating more tomorrow after I have some time to think about all the things I just witnessed. But I'm pretty sure Judy/Jowday (as Cole and Briggs called it) is the mother/experiment entity, and trapped Laura in this new timeline/dimension after realizing what Coop was trying to do. Did you notice how pissed Sarah Palmer was when this happened? Taking Laura's framed photo and stabbing it repeatedly in some weird loop. It's really interesting that the Tremonds own the Palmer's house, and that the Chalfonts sold it to them, as these are already lodge entities we know from the original seasons and Fire Walk with Me. And of course right when Laura hears her name being called she realizes exactly who she is and screams, waking her from the "dream." That's why the lights go out and everything goes black. There are still so many questions, too many to even list. One of the main ones on my mind is what the hell happened to Audrey? We have a lot of characters seeming to "wake up," Dougie/Coop, Audrey, Diane, and now Laura. Speaking of Diane, she sees another version of herself outside the motel. When she and Coop check in the motel and car and even the interior of the room look a certain way. But when Coop wakes up and leaves (after reading the note from "Linda" to "Richard) the building, car, and interior are totally different. At least we now have a full understanding of what the Fireman's conversation with Cooper in Part 1 meant. He told him about 430, Richard and Linda, and the sound the phonograph made, which is the same static, insect sound we hear when Laura disappears as they're walking in the woods. He even tells Cooper that he "is far away." He is indeed. I did like how the symbol turned into an infinity loop; I think it plays into what's happening here a lot. I watched all of them including seasons 1 and 2, and fire walk with me. This shit is like contemporary art, wad up some trash throw it on a bucket and call it art. The amount of wasted time in this series is amazing, wtf are they thinking do a 10min car ride shot with fucking nothing other than the cam panning back and fourth from cooper to laura?? I bet the writers were all jerking off on Lynch as they came up with this script and were all praising each other of their deep intellectual artistic brilliance. Say it with me now...GARBAGE. |

After thinking the murder had been stopped, indeed it had not been. How horrifying to "wake up" to a nightmare! That could have been accomplished in a season that was just 2-4 hours total, though. There was literally no logical or creative justification for at least 75% of the 16 hours of plot that preceded the final 2 episodes. FFS, Monica Bellucci and several other female performers appeared only to satisfy Lynch's real-life fetishes. It was all as masterbatory and hollow as Shia LaBeouf's art exhibit, where he wore a paper bag over his head and pretended to be relevant. [link to www.usmagazine.com] |

As if anyone has the right to say what a TRUE Lynch fan is. I guess to some of these people you have to LOVE everything Lynch does and worship him even if he fails to provide any catharsis in his work. So be it. It is what it is. Season 3 had some incredible moments and I have no regrets taking part in that journey. But, the finale was just about unwatchable with him returning to the drawn out scenes. I get what he may be getting at artistically. However, this, to me is an artist saying "screw you" to so many of his fans. |

The part I put in bold just frustrated the hell out of me. Talk about a scene I thought would never fucking end. |

I still want a season 4. I think if it goes ahead, we will get a better understanding of what universe/dimension each bit has been playing out in and who knows, by the time any future season get done, we may have, with some re-editing, some new versions to watch with their correct timelines and storylines (which may be L&F's longer-term intention). Now that would be something new, different and game-changing in the way a series was done! |

User ID: 70792893 Netherlands 09/04/2017 06:30 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I'm thinking that the hotel room scene with Diane and Dale was because some sort of sexual energy was needed to get to the place where Dale wanted to get to to find Laura. Diane was obviously uneasy about having sex with Dale and covered his face up with her hands because he reminded her of the rape by Bad Cooper. The kisses were probably to ensure that they knew they were the real Diane and Dale (because there is another Diane hanging around wherever they are). |

"Coop" in real life is actually an FBI guy in Odessa, TX named Richard. He is part "Evil Coop", part "Good Coop". A Yin and Yang normal kinda guy. "Diane" is Linda in real life. She split after having sex with Richard in the middle of which she was having a flashback of being raped by "Evil Coop"/BOB. That's why she was covering his face. Of course at the end "Laura" (Mrs. Page in real life) has the flashback/bleedthrough and we don't know what is real and not. But what is "real life" or not has no meaning at this point. We are nearly becoming Jeffries - a consciousness devoid of real mass. A vapor. Able to access moments in time with ease. Odessa name: Ukrainian meaning place name. Greek meaning full of wrath. Feminine form of Odysseus (M), therefore meaning odyssey. the Greeks borrowed the word Odessa came from, meaning "marine". Except for a few loose ends, namely Audrey's coma/nuthouse explanation, Red/Shelly and Red's sparkle gang, and did Steven kill Becky leading up to his apparant suicide, episode 17 pretty much wrapped up everything non-Laura. Episode 18 seems to be the start down another path, and maybe along a different timeline. And hopefully a new season. Last Edited by Live From the Metaverse on 09/04/2017 01:35 PM |
