In Atlanta, I heard thunder like never before.
It rolled for at least 10 seconds. Never heard thunder roll for so long.

My hubby heard it too.

Well: it sounds like the 'Tornado Alley' that us Kansans have lived -and died- in has now become 'Tornado SuperHighway.'

My heart goes out to those who will be affected: I saw my family home levelled to the ground by the 1991 F5 Andover Ks tornado [shown in the GLP pic gallery] and to see a 30yr-old tree you planted as a child snapped like a toothpick is an awesome sight to behold.

Makes you feel REALLY puny.

Portions of major interstates in Western Iowa have already been closed due to a major snowstorm.

Just west of Chicago (where I live) we heard thunder this morning around 4am and now more snow/ice is heading our way.

I can't recall weather like this over a 3 to 4 week period.

Dark and forboding here, snow coming with high winds...we cant fire up the wood stove if its too windy, too dangerous.
Refer back to 2 threads: the one on the tsunami which may be whats affecting us or the one I started on the fact that the USA is at war and being attacked with weather wars, beginning with Katrina...floods out east, the coastline from Fl. to Tx in shambles from hurricanes, fires burning out west and frost destroying oranges with drought in between killing crops and cattle. And of course snow snow snow up north. Can you say H A A R P, boys and girls.?? We know Russia had the technology in the Falkland wars because they offered it to england to help out. and how clever, it leaves NO fingerprints.

Some ominous thundering and dark skies here in southeast Kentucky, but I don't think we're supposed to see many storms.

I'm in the valley where Palmer sucks, and Wasilla blows. Can hardly get the back door open to let the dog out! Maybe I'll come into Anchorage to get a reprieve.
