Funny how ducks enjoy rain! And they take baths too!

Ah, I see you have a little flock of slug harvesters! Good for you. I hear they are great for bugs too and don't tear up your garden like chickens do.

Aww, thanks for that. On hot dry days I love putting my sprinkler on and watching all of the birds enjoy the "rain." So sweet.

I love ducks, dunno why, maybe some childhood memories that are nice of cream teas on summer sundays at the farm tea shop and feeding the ducks in the ford??

My ducks love the creek and I or the other roommates feed them scratch. Also never held them They wonder freely with the chickens and other random while ducks.

my two ducks have turned the yard in to a mud pit... they dig.
they don't scratch like the chickens but they can do damage

My Muskovies would rather play in a mud puddle than their pond. They end up covered with mud until they take a bath in the pond. Ducks are strange critters, but the Muskovies are by far the strangest. They will stay with you as long as they want to, but when they decide it's time to move on, they can fly away. That fact will make you a better duck owner, or you will have no Muskovies. Farmers keep them because they prefer eating bugs to anything you can give them. They really help out around the barn.

Nice ! I have two mallards as well (I think they are either 12 or 16 weeks old). I haven't let them play in the rain yet, they do love the pond tho.

Domestic ducks don't do well in the wild. Most of them become food for dogs, foxes, and coyotes. Even the Muskovies nest on the ground. They will roost in a tree, but when nesting they are just as vulnerable as the rest. People that say stupid shit like that are just to dumb to understand how the world works. Domestic animals are not prepared to live without human intervention.

Sorta unrelated, a mink killed 3 chickens the other week. Kludi the dog killed it...
