Flash in the sky
I walked outside a half hour ago because I wanted to see how clear the sky was. It was completely clear. As I was looking up, the entire southern half of the sky flashed like there was a giant camera flash aimed up at the sky.

I stayed outside for several minutes watching to see if it would happen again, but it didn't.

There were no meteors, clouds on the horizon that might have generated lightning, or anything that I could attribute to it.

Weird.

If your eyes have not melted in their sockets, the skin and muscle is still on your body, and your electronics are still working, I'd say you're safe at the moment.

lol, I didn't think I was in any danger. I just thought it was weird. I figured I'd post it on the off chance that someone else saw it too.

Maybe you're right and it was a fast burning leonid that lit the sky and was just out of my visual range.

Interesting. I wonder if there is any correlation to the increased solar activity spewing things in our direction while our magnetic field has been weaker.

I think I saw something along those lines.

My first thought was lightning, it was just out of the blue. like it just felt wrong.

Who knows...

It's actually possible, but it's extremely rare. Multiple people seeing these flashes without clouds or a bolt in multiple locations though? Not likely.
