It will allow those who own virtual reality headsets to build personalized cartoonish-looking avatars from their recently tagged photos. They can then invite other friends to hang out in “spaces” where they can have virtual reality chats. Facebook describe it as a “VR app where you hang out with friends in a fun, interactive virtual environment as if you were in the same room.” [link to www.rt.com (secure)] :speechless: This won't end well... This is effingg stupid. So this is 3D, so what. Chat rooms and avatars have been around since 1995. FB will take this to a new level. This is just beta right now. They have much bigger plans. As if FB isn't intrusive enough as it is... ~*Ride the Wave*~ |

In 2014 FB acquired it and has spent the last few yrs in court related to it and it's patents. John Carmack, the DOOM game creator is in there. Bottom line, if you are wearing a shit head piece and hanging out with friends (as bunnies, avatars etc) is your beta product, this will never catch on. Just like it hasn't since the late 90's. They've tried to stick shit on a wall since 2014 and will continue to do so. This "beta" product won't stick. Remember 3D TV's? |

In another article about this, Zuckerberg laughed and said in the future "staring at the wall is gonna be a big thing." Another step toward total Idiocracy. vitamin rich food for thought |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 71132865 Mods in games are the same thing. Is there big demand now? No. So *shrug* You're right, might as well spend my time inventing a blowjob/handjob-peripheral. I'm thinking fleshlight meets robot arm. Then you would need another peripheral for the other end that simulates a dick going in and out of the mouth/throat of the person on the other end. |

Have to go to a self voluntary hanging event now but will check right in on my old friends as soon as I get back...lol. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 68914307 Nah that would be to real. 400lbs fat boy will have an avatar like Arnauld. Some will have animal heads and all that other shit. Then people will only want to be in the virtual world. They will waste away inside their homes. The Movie...Surrogates. Grow Your Own |
