I guess nobody cares. You will when it happens to you, then who you going to turn to when nobody cares. This is really a sick practice, I can understand holding the money as evidence of a crime, and if found not guilty, the money should be returned to you.
I found myself in a hole and needing money when I was younger, My grandma said she would loan me $5,000, she went to her bedroom and came out with cash, glad I didn't get stopped for speeding. And yes, I did pay her back, but with a check.

So, OP, that one about they forfeited in financial worth more money in 2014 than criminals(not white collar), stole. Thats beyond outrageous.

Personaly i always thought this was a clever thing the usa did.

If you want your money back.. prove how you got it.

But i guess at the same time youre letting criminals continue their crimes so its more like blackmailing them?
Unless they get caught at a later time becausr big cases get built in the mean time

NOT a good idea - say the police steal $10,000 cash you earned - but now it takes over $20,000 in court cost to get you own money back?

Thanks for posting this DND. I saw the original in liberal rag WaPo the other day and started fuming...again.

I could write a long rant about the legal/illegal drug profit scheme against the (mostly ignorant) people of this country. They get users/abusers enslaved coming and going and make money six ways to Sunday. But most of us who even pay attention to this type of thing know the score already. (For n00bs to the topic, just research Gary Webb and Ricky Ross, Dark Alliance for a small primer.)

As most of you know I support President Trump and a majority of his policies. IMO there is a place for civil asset forfeiture, especially when there is a clear connection to potential wrong doing, however in many cases that is not the case. Innocent until proven guilty is how our laws are setup? Is this the USA or isn't it?

Shit needs to stop.
