Jesus was an historical figure. Even the Israelites do not dispute this fact. He is mentioned in their own texts. (They state that Christ was killed for "sorcery".)

We know that Paul must of known about the historical Jesus around the year 32 AD, there isn't much proof of anything in the NT, but Paul is proof that Jesus lived (even though he never met Jesus while he was alive), we also have a very good source outside of the bible... Josephus.

Critical scholars of the NT don't agree on many things, but there is a strong consensus that a man called Jesus/Yeshua really did exist.

Even Atheist NT scholars like Bart Ehrman will tell you that there is no debate on this among critical scholars.
