Need advice after seeing doctor who did double mastectomy
Yesterday had my post-op bilateral mast app't with my surgeon. He said he also removed 7 lymph nodes...four of them were positive and now recommending radiation. Pretty sure this will cause lymphedema to the right arm to be much worse. Ph strip levels will not go up even with akaline diet, although I feel better than I have for years. This is my second recurrence of breast cancer within nine months. My doctor said: "This one was out to get you."

I cannot imagine the level of stress you must be enduring and I am so sorry that you have to go through this. You sound well informed and seem to have a good head on your shoulders so you probably are already aware of the different types of breast cancer and how every treatment is different. I am sure you are also aware that your location matters just as much the treatment. The history and stats for the Hospital and the staff matter just as much as well so don't go and deny radiation just because someone online said so. Going against doctors recommendations is dangerous. Are you in Canada?

Yes, there is lots of stress, it will be two years regarding this issue. But stress is no stranger to me. Live in a small city with a modern cancer clinic facilities. Didn't have a great relationship with my old oncologist and will be seeing a new one shortly. I want to ask why the eleven chemo sessions didn't work; why cancer came back with a vengeance and does hormone blockers really work? Will be asking how many rads and where the beam will be directed, etc. Also asked for a path report copy...all to make informed decision. Advice from others is also much appreciated.

Unfortunately I was 'sucked into the industry' two years ago. It's amazing how tptb sweep you up into a fast moving current of tests, scans, procedures that make your head spin so bad you can't think straight. It's only after you're way into the 'process' that you finally get to look for answers yourself. By the time chemo, lumpectomy were done I felt confident to refuse the radiation. The confidence came from the path report...clear margins/negative nodes. Just recently heard of iodine and taking supplements. There is a part of me that thinks I'm selfish for not wanting a 50% chance of not having another recurrence.

Honestly, I would suggest you look into a breast cancer forum and ask questions there in addition to this forum.

Any mention of medically related procedures will get about 90% of the forum trying to convince you to not get medical treatment of any kind, even though most continue to visit doctors themselves.

Shit, OP. That really sucks.
I hope the new oncologist works out....its tough to get stuck with a doctor whom you don't really 'click' with...

Just underwent dbl mast last month after lumpectomy exactly one year ago. It grew 3 cm from January 1st ulstrasound to Feb. 21st under the microscope. Normally DCIS breast cancer is slow growing! Had clear margins and neg nodes with the lumpectomy. Now I'm left w the decision of having rads to the axilla with probable lymphedema of the right arm and a 50% chance of a recurrence.

Make an appointment with Dr. Tent in Michigan. They do appointments via skype or FaceTime. Google Diverse Health Services. He also has lectures on YouTube that are very enlightening. Sorry to be blunt but conventional medicine has done you a severe disservice.....and your insurance paid for it.

Trying to stick to an alkaline diet: quit drinking, filtering water, staying away from carbs and sugar - as much as I can. Plus high levels of CBDs from prescribed mmj oil. Started exercising as well. Was feeling great until my app't, now I'm up & down like a toilet lid.

In Canada all cancer treatments are free: chemo, rads, surgery, 5- 10 years of prescribed hormone blockers. I am thinking that once I get a copy of the path report I will request a second opinion in a neighboring city. I don't know why this happened and my surgeon said he didn't know either. The only thing that could be a possibility is STRESS and there was lots of that last year due to diagnosis and chemo/blood transfusions.

Alkaline water and don't drink from any BPA bottles. Suggest glass. No processed foods or sugars. Do not get on Tamixifen. That will kill you. I've been through stage three and chemo and radiation but no drugs after I started the alkaline water (kangen) my cancer markers went away.

Do you eat carbs and sugar?

Look into a Ketogenic diet and eating less than 20grams of carbs/sugar a day.

Cancers thrive on glucose.
In order to kill the cancer once and for all, you need to deplete the cancer's food source and STOP eating carbs and sugar!
