Why are the birds still migrating South? | |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 72486031 United States 03/06/2017 07:46 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It's March, they should be heading back North. I live in the Midwest and every day for several weeks I watched the grackles, the Blackbirds, and several other species that I cannot readily identify heading south. Quoting: wishiwas And today, I see them splitting up into groups. They've not done this here. Normally, there are Miles and Miles of birds flying over our area, maybe a half mile wide, but miles long. Not today. Im gonna chalk it up to resting/flying in their sub-groups of a few hundred, vs several thousand. But I'm not getting why they'reflying south, in March. Any ornitholigists here that can offer some insight? I'm not an expert, just lived on the migration route all my life. :) Thanks! Amateur ornithologist here. The birds are flying North. You inadvertently go turned around and were facing the wrong direction. Any other question i can help you with? |

I drive the same interstate every single day, straight east/west. The birds are flying south. In the thousands, just like normal migration in the fall/winter. Then they fly back north. Im telling you they are flying south, have been for a week or more again. They fly this specific area every single year. I've been watching the migrations for years. Justitiae soro Fides |

My car says I'm heading west. But I don't know that my car uses a magnet to find true north. It probably uses Gps. The sun is basically in the right spot. So it's not that we've moved globally. So I wonder if it's the magnetic field that's causing this. I watch the birds every single day. I'm always looking to the sky. So I notice these things. Justitiae soro Fides |
