Re: Urinary Tract Infection (UTI)
Cranberry cures mine, if you take a triple dose of the capsules. I take really strong ones.

It is likely that you have a yeast overgrowth in your system, which is causing you to have chronic infection. You would need to address the Candidiasis to get at a true fix for such a chronic problem. If you have taken antibiotics before, and not followed up regularly with a good quality probiotic (I prefer Kyodophilus myself), then you are likely out of balance with yeast overgrowth in your system. Grapefruit seed extract (not grape seed, grapeFRUIT seed) is effective to kill off yeast, as is Pau d'Arco tea, brewed strong, drink daily on empty stomach, and take the Kydophilus as well on an empty stomach. Remove all alcohol, fermented foods, vinegars, sugars, syrups, sweet fruits, simple carbs like white flour, white rice, and other things that yeasts feed on (and the yeast will also cause cravings) from your system, and allow it to die-off and bring you into a better balance. You can find out more about Candida here:

Grape Seed Extract is also helpful for detoxing and reducing the inflammation in the bladder, take as close to 1 mg. per lb of body weight as you can.

Re: Urinary Tract Infection (UTI)
Get the culture, get the proper antibiotic.

However, for the symptoms, drink LOTS of water (like a gallon a day). Dissolve 1 tsp baking soda in 8 oz of water and chug it down. You can do this several times a day. It kills the acid in your urine, which is what causes the burning, urgency, and pain.

UTIs are nothing to mess around with, especially as we get older (and I'm assuming that's what your doc meant when he said, "...at your age..."). They can affect your mental function seriously, as well. Get rid of the damn thing.

You might also ask about a light hormone cream like an estradiol. Just a fingertip full every few days can help a lot.

Good luck with it.
 Quoting: Kamchatka

There's info from a study done at a school of medicine in Louisiana back in 1961 - Title - BACTERICIDAL EFFECT OF UREA

Urea is the main nitrogen-containing substance in the urine of mammals (humans are mammals). Urea KILLS bacteria!! Their study demonstrated that as we increase the urea concentration in our urine, we increase the germ fighting properties of our urine, which is an important function of the body in resisting and defeating bacterial invasions as in bladder and kidney infections.

One popular medical treatment for UTIs that does NOT increase urea levels , but actually DILUTES urea, is the practise of drinking copious amounts of water.

As Schlegel, and other researchers and clinical trials demonstrated, concentrated urine is actually a vital natural defense against urinary tract infections, including kidney infections, and diluting it by greatly increased forced-water intake in an erroneous practice. In other words, it isn't logical to drink large amounts of water to combat urinary tract infections, because water dilutes the urine and its urea content which subsequently destroys the urine's natural anti-bacterial action which the body uses as a natural defense against urinary tract infection.

Guess how you can increase the urea concentration in your urine? You can take medicinal urea orally, or, you can consume your own urine, which, because it naturally contains urea, it also increases urea concentrations in our systems.

Thanks for all the info. I've chosen to use my own perfect medicine which is FREE, and in an abundant supply. It's PERFECT for me because it is mine and no one can duplicate it. I highly recommend anyone who is seriously interested in this therapy to read the amazing story of Martha Christy. Because I don't like to consume concentrated urine, I decided to make a homeopathic urine preparation and it worked wonders.

Simple preventative measure: go and pee immediately after sex.

Right now, though, you MUST go to the doctor and get on a course of antibiotics. Ignore the posters above who are pushing "hair of dog and eye of newt" cures. Do the right thing and take care of yourself, okay?

Borax.

DuckDuckGo a search on the healing properties and why this has been kept from the public. Serious stuff. I used it to cure my arthritis. That's right, CURE.

If you're very Acidic, the herxheimer effect could be pretty severe as it was for me but worth it in the end.

Worked for me.. took less thank 2 days to clear up.. research the power of meditation and visualization.. research shows cranberry as very effective.. and baking soda drastically or almost instantaneously released the burning sensation as it neutralized the urine acidity.. so suggesting this remedy from experience..

Re: Urinary Tract Infection (UTI)
What is a chronic UTI? What makes you think you have UTI?

If you have flank pain or fever, go to the doctor.

I do labwork. It is my profession. I am certified. I cannot legally give you medical advice other than to see a doctor.

Unfortunately, I cannot look at your urine. I will tell you that, should you give a urine sample, be sure to get a clean catch, midstream. It helps to bath and wash that area before going to the lab. When they give you those wipe things to clean, use them. Begin your stream to flush away the bacteria that may be on the surface, then once the flow has started, stick the cup under there. I can't stress enough how important it is to get a good sample.

Ask to see your UA report. In grown women with an infection, you should have WBC's present. If you have too numerous to count WBC, you probably have a UTI. With 21 or more WBC present, few epithelial cells present, and bacteria you probably have a UTI. Oh, one reason you want to clean good is to remove the excess epithelial cells. Bacteria love dead skin cells. Yummy, yummy. If you have a lot of epi's present in your urine, you did not get a clean catch. There will be a lot of normal flora present that will mess up your culture results. Most times, there will be multiple organisms present. If there are 3 or more, we throw them away because you can't tell which is causing the infection. Remember, there is a lot of bacteria present just right around the corner from the poopy area. That is another reason why it is important to clean. I recommend cleaning before sex as well so the gram negative rods that are present in an over abundance in the poopy area, many if which are very motile, don't get into the peepee area.

There have been a few times that I have seen numerous bacteria present and <5 WBC. This can happen in children and is why a doctor may order a culture though few WBC are present. I have seen this only a few times in grown women. Sometimes there may be amorphous material present that is hard to distingish from bacteria. So again, doctors usually rely on the presence of WBCs.

You should not be getting UTI's over and over. If you are, go to a urologist. There may be something anatomically wrong. It may be that you are not totally emptying your bladder.

The reason you should drink water is that you want to flush out the bacteria. If it sits in the bladder, it will grow. I don't know about the Urea business. Urea is similar to ammonia. It is a by product of cell metabolism. A by product is the waste product that cannot be used so it is excreted. A high blood BUN (blood urea nitrogen) is not good. It is a sign of renal failure or dehydration. OK, I read up on Urea a little. Urea acts as a diuretic and if you take ( and God only knows why you would take it) only take a little bit and drink lots of water. For the record, I do not recommend that you take it.

Hey and if all else fails, make sure you don't have an STD like Chlamydia, GC, or Trichomonas which can cause similar symptoms as a bladder infection. As for a chronic or systemic yeast infection in the Urinary tract, see a doctor for that please.[liveleak]

Re: Urinary Tract Infection (UTI)
If it is early stages of a UTI, sometimes a homeopathic remedy can help.

BUT ---THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT --- if you start having blood in your urine, and/or pain that goes up into your back -- go to a doctor or urgent care ASAP, because that means the infection has gone up into your kidneys, and then you could end up with kidney damage. You don't want that!! Kidneys keep you alive.

Here are the 5 top remedies for UTI - pick the one that matches your symptoms. You can buy the remedies at any Health food store.

[link to www.homeopathicdoctor.co.in (secure)]

Drink lots of cranberry juice, too.

But again, if the pain gets bad, or if you get blood in your urine, or get back pain - go to a doctor ASAP.

I was prescribed Cipro for my UTI. Last time I had it (2yrs), I ended up with crippled fingers due to tendon damage from the side effects!! Now I'm trying cranberry juice with maximum strength AZO and plenty of water.
