Breaking: Oroville Dam Spillway (Live Feed)

Looks like there's a hole under the spillway itself, looks like way more water then what is coming out over top.

Moonbeam can blame the state legislature for not instituting the cow fart tax earlier...he'll say it was an alien agenda to use cows farts to increase global warming...why do you think that the cows come mutilated and all...they'll have him on cnn telling everyone they do their part and capture all those cow farts to stop global warming.

Oh Wow..they have increased the outflow at the MS by 5,000cfm and there is a crack in the lower section of the spillway....that crack is expanding...I"m watching it and it is actually swelling and then shrinking....that piece is going to break away....

Did nobody else just hear them near the live feed?? They sounded like they were happy about the situation. ? All is ok right now.

Had a "hinky" about the Dam actually failing a few days back and posted this thread...Hopefully it is just a "coincidence" that this popular movie would have
these dates, but thought I would make a "warning" thread in any case.

There have been dozens of threads over the years on GLP about the "collective unconscious" messages that seem to show up in some films. (Some may be deliberately PLANTED...some are just "Art imitating real life"...but these seems to have proven out over the years I've watched this (since the 90's.) I've put a few links up in the thread for OTHER "predictive signs" for movies we have looked into...let's hope the dates as "warnings" in "Oh Brother Where Art Thou" is NOT one of the films that contained a REAL warning. ( I have family and friends who live down-stream of Oroville Dam, so that may be why I was sensitive to seeing the dates.)

There is a slab of concrete lifting up south of the main erosion point.

The newly formed channel the water damage caused on the spillway is far better than they could have hopped for, the granite bedrock of the newly carved channel will serve as the spillway until the repair, no worries.

That's what I'd like to know. It's as though the 'live' feed is on loop.

Also, I did a google search for 'Oroville' and set the search for past day.

There is a foxnews article dated yesterday but when you access the article it has today's date. Probably no big deal but this type of thing aggravates me. It makes me wonder about the timing of the LIVE feed. It pisses me off.

I'm not saying it's not a dangerous situation. But I am saying there are some sketchy 'news' and 'live' shit going on when it pertains to the current subject of the Oroville Dam Spillway.

The situation can be broken into component parts...

1) There is a serious flood situation.
2) The flood's increased flow, on it's own, is serious but not disastrous condition.
3) There will be expected soil erosion at the end of the spillway being carried down stream for the given flood / flow condition, serious but not disastrous.
4) Poor maintenance has caused the spillway to erode in an unexpected way causing further debris being washed downstream serious but not disastrous.
5) Rising flood conditions has caused the emergency overflow and spillway to come into use. It would have behaved as expected given the water level / over-flow.
6) The emergency spillway has eroded as would have been predicted given the conditions, causing still more debris to be passed downstream. This predictably being dumped on the nearest flood plain. Flood conditions getting bad.

All the above are perfectly predictable, basic river / dam / spill / flow / flood flood-plain hydrodynamics. Infrequent but surely NOT extraordinary or outside the realms of expectation or normal reasoning. Floods happen, caused by freak weather events.

The conditions downstream do not appear in any reports, suggesting that the debris and water flow downstream is being managed, the structures downstream not causing any great alarm or risk to life other than flood plain damage that was foolishly developed and occupied.

The questions now are

1) How much longer or higher will the (flood) water level in the lake / emergency overflow continue.
2) Can the concrete forming the emergency overflow (now acting as a weir) remain attached to the bed-rock.
3) Will the turbulence above the dam main sluices undermine the concrete to bedrock foundation of the main dam causing catastrophic dam failure.
4) Will the turbulence of the emergency overflow erode the the foundations of the concrete cause catastrophic dam failure
5) Will the failing spillway underpinning be eroded, working it's way back to the main dam causing catastrophic dam failure.

THE REAL FEAR is simply the dam being breached (catastrophic dam failure). Given time, this will eventually happen, cavitation hydrodynamics from the flood.

Mother nature flood conditions are relatively predictable and controlled by millennia of erosion and deposition (as seen in gorges and flood plains. Dam breaches are an entirely different and relatively unnatural occurrence with the exception of the inland lake that emptied creating the Grand Canyon.
