For those who don't know, Gov. Moonbeam, aka Jerry Brown, is gay -- but, to his credit, has never been enough of a hypocrite to marry for political reasons.

But he has been a serial bro for his entire life, starting from when he was studying for the Jesuit priesthood, but - shall I say it - washed out?

I know the California scene very well.

They are saying 'it's going according to plan and looks good'....but, please, evacuate.

Oh, now they are announcing schools that are closed for tomorrow.

But it's JUST FINE.

You know breaking news is defined as news that is current and ongoing.

I will only take notice when it is super pinned.

Do we have any civil engineers on GLP who can say whether this new flow to the side could end up eroding the dam, and cause a collapse?

They must gather up a good story first.

This is not that much a big deal.

The main spillway has been breaking up towards the bottom for days. The water will gradually erode the substrate below the concrete, back towards the dam.

This is not a failure of the dam, which is the real danger they are worried about.

The flood water needs be released or safely overflow without the dam or foundation to bedrock failing. The bottom end of the main spillway is not that serious of the biggest issue at the moment, spectacular as it may seem.

If the dam fails, the slug of water will take out everything downstream for quite a way. The overflow not so much or so quick.

Looks like the whole side of the dam might give way at any moment.

The fundamental factor in earthen dam construction is the time it can take for the structure to undergo critical failure.

The outflow was much lower than it has been. You can really see how torn up it is and all the cracks in what's left.

You guys that are on top of this, check Fuckbook. Wife just yelled to me downstairs, says facebook is saying spillway and/or dam is ruptured.

I'm not seeing any other news and it is disheartening. Also, I watched a guy, yesterday, who was reporting on this live and I can't find his bookmark any longer. I really wish we could hear from folks who are in the area.

uptick in flooding problems starting late tonight and continuing
through Monday night as an intense Atmospheric River type storm

* Our entire region has saturated soils and many flooded areas
already. This will enhance the impact of additional heavy rains

* Additional stress will be placed on levees, rivers, creeks, and
streams.

* We may see flooding in locations which haven`t been impacted in
many years.

California to be prepared for flooding.

Apparently the small earthquakes are the result of so much weight of water being removed and refilled in the lake.

Something looks very suspicious. A few days ago I saw a photo of the damage of the spillway and the damage went all the way across the spillway where the big hole is. In that video the damage did not go all the way across. That looks like it was 4 or 5 days ago when the damage was 2/3rd the way across.

Something very fishy about that video stream.
