Moonbeam, aka Jerry Brown, is gay -- but, to his credit, has never been enough of a hypocrite to marry for political reasons. But he has been a serial bro for his entire life, starting from when he was studying for the Jesuit priesthood, but - shall I say it - washed out? I know the California scene very well. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 74114401 United Kingdom 02/19/2017 03:56 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | This is not that much a big deal. The main spillway has been breaking up towards the bottom for days. The water will gradually erode the substrate below the concrete, back towards the dam. This is not a failure of the dam, which is the real danger they are worried about. The flood water needs be released or safely overflow without the dam or foundation to bedrock failing. The bottom end of the main spillway is not that serious of the biggest issue at the moment, spectacular as it may seem. If the dam fails, the slug of water will take out everything downstream for quite a way. The overflow not so much or so quick. |

The fundamental factor in earthen dam construction is the time it can take for the structure to undergo critical failure. |

(OP) User ID: 71347142 United States 02/19/2017 03:59 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I'm not seeing any other news and it is disheartening. Also, I watched a guy, yesterday, who was reporting on this live and I can't find his bookmark any longer. I really wish we could hear from folks who are in the area. Here is the forecast for the Sacramento/Oroville area, for what it's worth: Flood Warning Flood Statement National Weather Service Sacramento CA 959 AM PST SUN FEB 19 2017 CAC003-005-007-009-011-017-021-033-035-057-061-063-067-077-089-091- 095-099-101-103-109-113-115-240000- /O.CON.KSTO.FA.W.0011.000000T0000Z-170224T0000Z/ /00000.0.ER.000000T0000Z.000000T0000Z.000000T0000Z.OO/ Colusa CA-Yolo CA-Sutter CA-Solano CA-Plumas CA-Alpine CA-Placer CA- Shasta CA-Lassen CA-Amador CA-Tuolumne CA-Sacramento CA-Lake CA- Stanislaus CA-San Joaquin CA-El Dorado CA-Calaveras CA-Tehama CA- Butte CA-Glenn CA-Sierra CA-Yuba CA-Nevada CA- 959 AM PST SUN FEB 19 2017 ...A FLOOD WARNING FOR URBAN AREAS AND SMALL STREAMS REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 400 PM PST THURSDAY FOR COLUSA...YOLO...SUTTER... TUOLUMNE...SACRAMENTO...LAKE...STANISLAUS...SAN JOAQUIN...EL DORADO...CALAVERAS...TEHAMA...BUTTE...GLENN...SIERRA...YUBA AND NEVADA COUNTIES... * Interior Northern California will experience another significant uptick in flooding problems starting late tonight and continuing through Monday night as an intense Atmospheric River type storm arrives. * Our entire region has saturated soils and many flooded areas already. This will enhance the impact of additional heavy rains this week. * Additional stress will be placed on levees, rivers, creeks, and streams. * We may see flooding in locations which haven`t been impacted in many years. * We are strongly advising all residents in interior Northern California to be prepared for flooding. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Be prepared to evacuate if flooding should affect your area. Gather a "go bag" with important items like medications and hard to replace documents. Do not forget to plan for you pets and animals. Please never drive across flooded waters and roadways, especially flowing water. Most people who are killed or injured during floods are attempting to drive through flooded waters. Turn around, don`t drown! |

I know the California scene very well. I'm pretty sure he did get married, but it certainly would explain why we're paying for prisoners to have sex-change operations on the taxpayer dollar. And free aids cocktails for everyone and his brother while at the same time being told to go have sex with anyone and everyone like rabbits. |

The above comment by someone in the UK should be taken with salty fish 'n chips. Evidently dams in the UK are 'dangerously unregulated' - per the headline in the Independent from 3 years ago. "Unmanaged and ill-maintained water barriers put lives and property at risk, says report." [link to www.independent.co.uk] So thanks a lot for your input. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 73967378 United States 02/19/2017 04:10 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Something looks very suspicious. A few days ago I saw a photo of the damage of the spillway and the damage went all the way across the spillway where the big hole is. In that video the damage did not go all the way across. That looks like it was 4 or 5 days ago when the damage was 2/3rd the way across. Something very fishy about that video stream. . |
