A muzzle is a clear signal of it's own. Stay away.If you can't remember what each color represents, think of a stop light. Green Bandanas A green bandana means that the dog is known to be FRIENDLY, and would love some attention. In a stressful situation, dogs don't always behave the way you'd expect. Those who don't have dogs as well as those who do, can go a long way to helping keep everyone safe. Always ask for permission before approaching any dog! Yellow Bandanas A yellow bandana means CAUTION! The owner may allow contact with the dog, but the dog may not like certain people, objects, or may be prone to unexpected behaviors. Red Bandanas Red means DO NOT APPROACH! It does not always indicate the dog will bite. It means that the owner does not wish for their dog to be approached. The dog may be in training, old, post surgery, or submissive, requiring protection from overly enthusiastic encounters with other dogs, children, or adults. |

Was just reading that one of the shelters is in need of cat food and kitty litter. If anyone evacuating has extra, it would be awesome to be able to share with others. Heartwarming to know that some people care so deeply for their animals. Heartbreaking to hear about those who have few options. |

A 25-30 ft. leash comes in handy if you have a dog that needs more exercise than you are able to give them by a walk. Far enough to chase a ball; close enough to reel them in if someone is approaching. Many of the items listed as good to have are luxuries for many. Especially for emergencies. If you don't have a leash, find a piece of strong rope. If your dog isn't in prime shape, hasn't been groomed like he's ready for show, don't worry. No one expects to see a dog appear in that condition in an emergency. What they'll see is someone who cared enough to get their pet in a secure situation. |
