That's a sociopath. You don't need sociopaths in your life. (If I ask you for a date, say no...) I wouldn't have told another adult to put the phone down though. I would have paid my bill and left and said see ya later. No bad feelings, but you wouldn't catch me out to dinner with her again either. :) It's not cell phones. It's PEOPLE. It's unbelievable how so wrapped up in themselves and their phones people can be. |

As it turns out, they learned that 20 years or so ago, when people sat down at their table, they ordered their food, and ate it when it arrived. Today, they take twice as long to order because they're on their phone every time the waiter/waitress tries to take their order. Then, when the food does arrive, they take twice as long to get around to eating it because they're still screwing around on their phones. When they finally do get around to eating, they complain about the food being cold, and send it back. Half the time, when the new food arrives, they still wait 10 or so mintues to eat because they're STILL screwing with their phones, and let the food get cold again. Yes, our culture is in decline. |

We had a pomegranate margarita and appetizer. Quoting: Nancy Botwin When we first sat down, she was busy taking a survey on her phone for a free pyrex or something. This took about 20 minutes. After 10 minutes of conversation, they called her and she spent another 20 minutes answering their questions. I asked her to put the phone down, and she signaled for me to be quiet, because she couldn't hear. At one point she even turned her back on me. I got angry and left, and I haven't heard from her since. Was I wrong to be angry? What would you do? I hate cell phones. Fuck that bitch when you are with some one in person the phone goes away PERIOD. RUDEST SHIT IVE EVER SEEN EVER |

She requested that you meet her there, and you did. I figure the survey she took 'could have' been done later, and especially the call back. I don't think it was unreasonable for you, after about 40 out of 50 minutes of her on the phone while you waited, to get a bit ticked off. Especially with her signalling you to be quiet and turning her back on you. The only thing I would have added would have been me flailing my arms at her as if to say WTF????? what about me???? thought you wanted to meet up?? And yeah, I then would have turned and walked out. She was the one who was rude. As far as etiquette goes, it's on her to contact you and apologize. Sounds to me like since she hasn't called you back, she either doesn't realize SHE was the rude one, she doesn't realize you were hurt by her actions, maybe she's embarrassed and doesn't know what to say/do, likely she knows nothing of manners and etiquette, maybe she just doesn't give a rats ass. It sounds to me like you are second-guessing yourself, because she hasn't called you and apologized. Guess it's time to ask yourself if this is a friendship you want to keep? Is this new and different behavior for her? If so, and if you want to keep her as a friend, maybe you make the first move and explain you were hurt by her behavior. Then take it from there. . |

NO you were not wrong, why did she meet you if she did not have time to talk with you. That's one thing I do too. I've walked out on my daughter before and left her the bill. She doesn't do it anymore. Anonymous Coward User ID: 73776996 United States 02/18/2017 01:37 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I give my family and close friends a code for emergencies, so if I'm out and about, but an emergency happens and they need me asap, they know what to do. That's the ONLY time I would pick up the call while busy with something else. Anyone else calling gets called back when I have a chance to do that. They appreciate it because they know when I'm with them, they get my undivided attention and other calls wait. But then... my husband and I run a ranch, and we're beyond busy most of the time. So we do have rules re the phones. I think most young folks these days haven't a clue about 'rules' or phone etiquette or manners or respect, etc. . |

There can be a decent payback in discount coupons after completing surveys, I had a friend who occasionally took part. $30 for 15 minutes was not uncommon. Your friend may have needed the dosh. |
