The reason everyone acts like its something new is because they havent seen them before, China is so polluted you can barely see 2 ft in front of yourself.

What happens is the smog clears in the area every so often and the building s appear. making it look as though they are floating.

It has a reflection in the water... look at the surface of the water, see the buildings and then closer to the people, see a faint reflection of the Fata Morgana reflected there as well. It's faint, but it is definitely there. Also you can see in one section of the video that the buildings/mirage are stacked THREE times, right next to one another.

Every time I see this phenomenon I think of Brigadoon!

No, the reflection you see in the water is of the white buildings on the ground that are there beneath the optical illusion buildings in the sky.

Someone said the same thing in the YouTube comments, claiming it was taken in Yueyang, Hunan, China. However, an image search of the city shows no building or skyline resembling anything you see in the video. Nor is there any smog, for that matter.
