Help me with pain from surgery, please please please
It has been 30 days since I had bi-max MMA surgery to fix a topological defect in my airway. The procedure is defined by the detachment and re-attachment of the upper and lower mandible, after moving both forward a set distance and the reattching them with titanium plates and screws. In my case it was ~ 12mm. It has, thank God, well and truly cured my sleep apnea. I was averaging 70 episodes per hour in which I would hold my breath for 30 seconds or longer.

I was dying a little bit every night. Imagine seeing a coffin instead of a bed...

The procedure required my face to be peeled back from inside my mouth. During the procedure my surgeon noticed my nostril airways were also constricted and bored them out with some kind of roto-rooter bone burr saw and then sewed all the skin back together.

apocskull

I was bitten by a black widow on a nerve plexus in my left arm about a decade ago. I thought that was the most pain a person could endure. It literally slowed my perception of the passage of time it was so intense. That was nothing, I now clearly see.

I have developed atypical neuralgia in my maxillary v2 and mandibular v3 branches off my trigeminal nerve.

I close my eyes and can see the skin peeling back from my lips and chin as it is turned to ash by intense heat and fire, only to regenerate and it starts all over again. That is juxtaposed with the sensation that the skin is covered by constantly agitating and bursting pustules cause by exposure to acid or some biological agent. It absolutely has not stopped since the surgery, not even for a moment, and today is the worst day yet.

I fear walking too fast because the wind of my passage, on my face, is an inferno. Baby spoons are made of Constantino wire. The whiskers of my dogs are electrified whips.

The prognosis is good, they say, as I have recovered some feeling in the areas that were so abused by the surgery, but the possibility of 5 more months of this has despair folding me into the dark abyss of its clawed, leathery wings.

7 year medical attendant here, studying to become a Psyciatrist that sub specs in pain management and addiction medicine.

I have had patients, including myself who could just not get out of pain, or just had no way of getting treated. Some even decided there was too much pain and well, they are with God now.

You need to go talk to your PCP about getting into Pain Management and you need to let them know how bad it has become. If even a single suicidal thought comes into your head? You tell your doctor that the pain is so critically bad that you are beginning to get ideations even though you don't want to do anything stupid AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

For the short term, if you are not allergic or on anything that will interact negatively with this, take it. It has saved my life many a time, and has actually prevented suicides in a few of my patients.

300mg Dextromethorphan Hbr. The dose is low enough that you won't start tripping or have any intoxicant effects, it will boost your mood very high due to it's actions on Serotonin, it'll numb your entire body due to it's disassociative effect and you will still be able to function normally. They have a medication that is DXM's bigger, stronger brother called Levorphanol. Talk to your doctor about it, and remember, You are in pain, you have every RIGHT to get out of pain, opiates or not you raise hell if they try and give you the "Talk"

Feel better.

I still have the orthodontics, which are exacerbating the problem. They come out in 2 weeks to be replaced by normal orthodontics.

I am currently in Pain management, taking ~2000mg Gabpentin/day. It is completely ineffectual.

I am not having suicidal thoughts, I am just on the edge of despair.

I see the surgeon tomorrow, pain doc Monday.

Thanks for your advice, I appreciate it.

As to the Dextromethorphan, I have a bottle of vertussin (codeine suspension)

How does that compare?

In Jesus name, I ask Him to heal every nerve and make your cells completely regenerated and that in this process you seek The Lord and repent and come to Saving Faith in Jesus which with He can heal you totally.
I also recommend that you treat your flesh by rubbing DMSO on it.. The gel.. It does burn.. But you can mix it with water and dilute it.. It also heals nerves and tissues. You can order 99 percent pure DMSO on Amazon or if you are too impatient go pick up a jar of it at your local Tractor Supply in the horse section.
Google "DMSO pain relief"

God bless you and may you find the True God of the bible through this trial. And May you be Saved and Healed and protected. In Jesus Name.

I'm not sure if it's terrible to say, but some of our GLP brethren suffer so much that it makes my suffering pale in comparison.

I have no advice for you about how to manage your pain, but you do have my well wishes issued forth for healing.

Don't take that in a high dose, that could cause you to stop breathing since it has codeine in it and too much is bad 4 u. It is very good you're not having those thoughts, lol had me worried for a second. Anyway when you see the Surgeon tommorow, tell him about the pain, how severe it is, how badly it is affecting your quality of life and ask him what you can do since regular PM with just Gabapentin is ineffective. If he offers Opiates, do NOT go for the full strength super powerful ones. They will reprogram your DNA right quick and you'll get addicted faster than you can think.

If he offers Opiates for the pain, get either Tyelenol #3, Vicoprofien 7.5/200, or Oxycodone 5-325. Don't get anything stronger. This is because you can use the painkillers as a Base you can expand upon to make that 5mg pill work a hell of alot better with minimal, risks. An example would be mixing Oxy 5-325 with 1,000mg of IBprofien and 25mg of Diphenhydramine hcl. It would raise it's painkilling ability without more oxy in your system.

Basically, if the pain is horrid, research dextromethorphan for pain relief on google. I can't really tell you what to do cuz im not your doc, but TL;DR? Raise hell at the Surgeon, Raise hell at PM, get your voice heard.

I got bad apnea somehow, maybe similarly
I was all fucked up enough before hand
it really took shittyness to a higher level of insanity
destroyed my sleep
was some kind of spider or tick bite
I'll never fkn know and these medical people are .....(add every profanity combination)
then the system took absolutely forever and a day
currently going through distress and trauma cause they've taken an entire year and a half since my machine broke
a shitty made in china switch that should never have broken
(they used to make switches you could click forever, I had one, it lived in my lego box, you could click that thing a thousand times as fast and hard as you wanted, beat it, was never going to break, now everything is made of egg shells and rice paper)
still haven't fixed it, have done nothing but waste time and money sending me all over, demanding paperwork, and inspections, 100 phone calls, and haven't done a goddamned thing. Meanwhile the machine is jury rigged to power bar to turn it on and off, plus it's not set right, works ok then slows down too much and wont allow enough air during sleep, so I'm dying anyway, probably made for a tiny little Chinamans lung capacity

I always had a bit of apnea
now its making me go retarded
I lay down and in 5 mins my nose is completely closed, can't even get to sleep trying to breath through my mouth so I'm dependant on my machine
o r I stay awake until I go unconscious
and it's ruined my life
I aint doing no operations, these people are fkn idiots
eventually I will find and kill God for this and a great many other acts of gross negligence

maybe try injecting painkillers or opioids
you can always go on methadone later
don't blame me if you get jacked by a dealer or busted or hooked for life, or divorced from the personality changes, or broke from the expense.

get pain meds

try marijuana

id say try narcotics but pain meds basically the same thing

but be sure not to overdose

but i have never used any of those myself ...but there is really powerful stuff so i have heard, use it

my best advice: see a pain specialist, and then see a naturopathic pain specialist

you can make it for five months keep that it mind

but there are options to help you, also try all of them to make it easier

My sister got bucked off a horse in October and broke 5 bones in her back and fractured ribs. The opiate pain pills couldn't touch the pain it was so bad. She googled other pain relief methods and found DMSO. She has been rubbing it on her back and ribs every morning and she is able to get around now. The DMSO is the best pain relief. And it also heals tissue damage.

Try it tonight!!!!!!! Rub it in every 6 hours or more.

Sweet Jesus the DMSO stopped all the facial twitching...

Edit to add that as much as I would like to try marijuana or whatever, I get hair follicle tested at work on a regular basis.

Got to keep it 100% legal, prescribed by a physician for any opiates, etc..

may sound weird but you could try intense cardio, get your heart rate high as you can and keep it up for like 15 minutes a day

i suggest this bcause on a long six day bike trip i started to get carpal tunnel, and getting heart rate up seemed to make it dissipate right away

increaed blood flow and oxygen helps nerves to regenerate is my theory

theyve actually seen this in studies of the hippocampus

also consult internet or nutrition specialist on supplements that can help nerve regenration

i know alpha lipoic acid is available in vitamin shoppe and stroke victims take it ...

dont underestimate power of nutrition and exercise it really might help you

No exercise for 2 more weeks. The surgery was very invasive. They basically moved my upper and lower jaw and rebuilt the floor of my nose.

Was in ICU 2 days recovering before I went to a regular room.

Also the organization I founded awhile back is working on a way to cure multiple sclerosis and we seem to have found a way to repair the human body a hell of alot faster than regular bedrest thanks to the research we were doing.

I can't release any information just yet, but I can tell you it looks promising. Again I wish you all happy healthy lives and to feel better.

Re: Help me with pain from surgery, please please please
I will pray for you to get at least some relief. In the meantime I have a few suggestions which worked for me. Biofreeze is a topical designed to relieve pain. There are muscle relaxants that do more for me than standard pain meds without the negative side effects of irritating my stomach. Cortisone injections/shots in the most painful areas also help.

There are online discussion groups for those in severe and/or chronic pain discussing what they've tried and if it works for them. Not everyone reacts the same way. Don't know if it would be of value to you.

I was paid to participate in a research study in relaxation methods at the local university. It was very similar to pain management seminars. We covered meditation, listening to classical music, distracting our mind by reading an exciting or emotionally involving book, basic stretches that could be done lying down combined with tightening and then alternately relaxing each group of muscles, and self massage.

For those who weren't physically able to do even simple physical movement the instructor has us do deep breathing exercises. There are several online videos where a guide with a relaxing, soft voice will talk you through the steps while in the background you'll see and hear a waterfall, beautiful lake, ocean, etc. Although some of the basic principles are taken from yoga or Buddism there isn't any religious content. It's a more mentally active form of meditation as you're listening to the sounds of nature.

Bottom line is that pain management equals figuring out what the best way for you to distract your mind from the severe pain you are experiencing. Then to keep switching the methods if it stops working for you. Consider drinking lukewarm or room temperature herbal tea as well as it's a proven muscle relaxant. So is accupressure if you can find out about it on the internet.

My sympathies and I hope this helps.
