Re: GOP Rep Introduces National Concealed Carry Reciprocity On Day One of New Congress
The Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act of 2017 would address the patchwork nature of the country’s gun carry laws. Currently, each state decides which other states’ gun carry permits it will recognize. Some states recognize all other states’ permits, other states recognize no other states’ permits, and many fall somewhere in between. Gun rights advocates have long decried the web of local laws as confusing and unfair–one in which a wrong turn or missed exit could end in an otherwise law abiding gun owner unintentionally committing a felony.

“Our Second Amendment right doesn’t disappear when we cross state lines, and this legislation guarantees that,” Hudson said in a statement.

<snip>

“As a member of President-elect Trump’s Second Amendment Coalition, I look forward to working with my colleagues and the administration to get this legislation across the finish line,” he said in his statement.

One Member of Trump’s Second Amendment Coalition Has a To-Do List for the New White House

In the waning days of the presidential race, Donald Trump’s campaign quietly announced the formation of a “coalition” dedicated to protecting the Second Amendment. The 62-member group would be helmed by the president-elect’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., along with Chris Cox, the National Rifle Association’s top lobbyist. “These leaders will continue to advise Mr. Trump and Governor Pence as they protect our Supreme Court and our right to keep and bear arms,” a press release said.

<snip>

Here’s what Boch told The Trace he’s expecting President Trump to do:

1. Rescind a slate of executive actions issued by President Obama.

<snip>

2. Remove limits on arming service members at military facilities

<snip>

3. Revoke restrictions on importing Chinese guns and ammunition.

<snip>

4. Make silencers easy to access.

They need to be careful with this one, its a double-edged sword. It potentially gives liberal idiots in states like California a bigger say in the carry laws of other states friendly to gun rights, too.

Re: GOP Rep Introduces National Concealed Carry Reciprocity On Day One of New Congress
Congress and President Trump should easily be able to pass concealed carry reciprocity legislation within the first 90 days of his term. Once it has been the law of the land for some degree of time, and delicate New Yorkers, San Franciscans, and denizens of the nation’s capital realize that the change in carry laws has had no negative impact on crime, then perhaps we can start acclimating them to the idea of national constitutional carry, as the Founding Fathers intended.

Terrible idea. Drumpftards haven't thought this through *AGAIN*.

Georgia does not maintain the same standards as Connecticut. And Connecticut doesn't maintain the same standards as Oregon. None of them have the same standards as Alaska... and on and on.

So in steps big brother federal government to solve the problem that wasn't really that big of a problem in the first place. First they mandate that all states have reciprocity and in order to make that work - "hey I have an idea, there has to be a UNIFORM FEDERAL STANDARD - who is going to determine that for all 50 states? Why US of course!"

Of course that uniform standard is completely draconian chicago/california/new york/Massachusetts lowest common denominator kludge. Now all the rights you had in your own state are thrown in the trash. Your ability to carry a gun around (if at all) is a moving goalpost of federal whims of a president who could be an ardent gun control advocate 4 years from now, mandatory training, federal licenses, federal fuck ups, terror watch lists, domestic abuse suspects, unpaid obamacare, on and on.

DUMBEST IDEA EVER.

This only makes sense. Individual states do not have the constitutional authority to limit the 2nd Amendment as the please.

The ability to carry a gun should depend on the individual being vetted as a responsible carrier, and require a standardized one-time gun safety test.

A) What is the purpose of concealed carry besides to make liberals feel like they're in their safe space? We can't have open carry because why?

B) This is really the most important, pressing bit of legislation on the agenda? There are about 5 million other issues of greater importance than this.

You forgot the Supreme Court and the Bill of Rights which, California has gotten away with infringing those rights, because of the Ninth Circuit Court. Over turn that court, and a lot of changes happen, California may get their state back.

Arizona, Alaska, Vermont, Idaho, Wyoming have constitutional carry. I think there are a couple more.

Thanks but the wheel has already been invented by way of the 2nd amendment and natural pre existing right.

I do understand that in most minds the state and permission slips from the state are all powerful.

Exactly...can you imagine if ARKANSAS SAID BLACK PEOPLE CAN NO LONGER VOTE? What if MISSOURI SAID WOMEN CAN NO LONGER VOTE?

States no more have the right to legislate gun laws than they do to restrict women or blacks to vote.

Concealed permits made easy from the people who brought you the IRS, chain immigration, Obamacare, DHS no-fly lists, 1968 gun control act, assault weapons ban, etc. Those have been really beneficial for us all.

I guess Trumptards think the feds are A-OK now! How quickly that turned.
