Quoting: George B 1. Jobs are so limited and the number chasing them is so large, it is a disaster. 2. We need to find other ways to give people purpose beyond their jobs. 3. We need to limit automation and robotics until we find ways to employ real people. 4. People need to stay in training and school longer to limit the number of jobs needed. 5. People need to work half the normal work week at full pay and benefits. 6. There are simply too many people seeking jobs, we need earlier retirement. 7. There too many people period, we need to reduce the birth rate. 8. We need to increase the death rate. 9. Some people need to be classified unemployable. 10. We need to draft young people into the military and other service programs. 11. We need to create a large and ambitious race to Mars and off planet locations. 12. We need to make the deserts bloom and the oceans produce abundance. Trump and the Pope are correct; jobs are the holy grail of the future. Presently, Jobs are the central issue for giving humans purpose. Without purpose, people perish. Jobs give us hope, self-worth and dignity; without hope no one thrives. None of the above. This is what the baby boomer parents were. Today those skilled worker jobs are gone and Obama replaced them with Fast Food, Hotel, Waitress, Bartender jobs. Those jobs will not buy and house, new car, once a year vacation, or help pay for a childs college tuition when the time comes. Raising the minimum wage to 15 dollars an hour for those above mentioned jobs will only drive up the cost of the service they work for in order to pay for it. Or those businesses will automate and eliminate those positions. I dont see how you bring back manufacturing jobs where the worker makes 20 dollars a day a give that position to an American who will only take the job if he makes 25 dollars an hour. Quoting: Manosteel Look at all the megalithinc construction in the ancient past. It wasn't just purely for the ego of their leaders...it gave people a purpose. People sitting around eating and consuming and giving nothing back cannot go on forever. We need a major, nationwide construction program. My idea... A system of lakes and reservoirs and aqueducts and pipelines. it could help with water management and flood control in areas that get too much rain and be used to transport water to areas that are not getting enough. Would cost a pile of money and put 10's of thousands or more to work. Or...something similar. Doesn't need to be a monument, pyramid or a temple or anything like that... Just something useful that we could use.... Sounds like the TVA project (Tennessee Valley Authority) during the 1930s part of FDRs CCP. [link to en.m.wikipedia.org (secure)] [link to en.m.wikipedia.org (secure)] Sort of but not really.... It is things we need done. We really need to manage the floodwaters in the east much better...and we can...the technology and know how is there.... We need to prop up the food producing areas stricken with drought. I am not a huge fan of the western states, but they do grow and raise a lot of our food and I wouold rather them get the money as some foreign country. as far as costs... I would rather us deplete our budget and go into debt doing things here than borrowing money to lend to countries that hate us and seek to undemine us... oh and...btw....fuck the southern countries....you think we need you to pick our food...we don't....we can do that ourselves or with machines in a few more years....fuck off and stay on the other side of the coming wall Only idiots hate facts |
