If or when they get to mid-teen, adult - ask them about it. If the trauma of being given away hasn't manifested by then. Yes, they can have great lives and they get the whole "we chose you" spiel and are loved. But they always want to to know their real parents. I don't know a single adopted child that doesn't have psychological issues from being given up. And I don't know a single female that has given up their child that doesn't have issues from it. I also don't know a female that doesn't suffer from choosing abortion either. The choice really needs to be up to the mother. It's not an easy choice to make - abortion or adoption or keeping the child when not in a good position to raise them. All hurt and all have long term effects and their mental health. Stop sticking your nose in other peoples lives and take care of your own. A lot of people who are not adopted have issues. That being said, my adopted child is grown and a parent. There are no issues in my case, or in any other children of people I know that adopted them. Then you've never asked. Hell, my dad died when I was an infant - and I still have abandonment issues. They aren't part of my daily life. I don't talk about them. But every so often - they bubble up. And that loss surely effected the person that I was and am. Even when I don't acknowledge it. In all fairness any time one loses a parent you feel abandoned. I was 55 when my Dad died 4 years after my mom passed away. I felt abandoned after the grief.You become an orphan. It doesn't matter how old one is, you are the one still here. For me there is a difference in the abandonment associated with loss of life and the issues adopted children might feel.For what it's worth, I've talked to lots of adoptees. It runs about 50% those that want to find their birth families and those who say they have no desire to find a birth parent. But even those with no desire to find them, have some sort of psychological issue with it. Like I said, it's not something that they may even know exists - but it does and it manifests in some form or another. I know abandonment affects everyone as they lose parents. In my case, I was so young, I didn't even realize what it was doing to me until I was in my 20's. Life is just hard. For everyone. That's why I don't judge people for their decisions. I haven't walked in their shows and I don't know what their journey is. As I said, God has this all figured out - so we don't have to. God Bless President TRUMP! GOD BLESS AMERICA!! |
