Mike Pence blocking funding to help Syrian refugees resettle in Indiana HICAGO -- A federal court of appeals says Ind. Gov. Mike Pence cannot block funding to help refugees from Syria resettle in Indiana. Quoting: Hawk-02 That opinion handed down Monday afternoon by the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals in Chicago. In the ruling, Judge Richard Posner says Indiana, “provides no evidence that Syrian terrorists are posing as refugees or that Syrian refugees have ever committed acts of terrorism in the United States.” “Federal law does not allow a governor to deport to other states immigrants he deems dangerous; rather he should communicate his fears to the Office of Refugee Resettlement,” Posner wrote. He also likened trying to forbid refugees to trying "to forbid black people to settle in Indiana." [link to www.theindychannel.com] So, what Posner is telling Pence is: "No, you can't selectively deny refugees. You must deny ALL of them and tell the Office of Refugee Resettlement that Indiana will be accepting NO refugees." In fact, I'd go further if I were Pence and sever all ties and reciprocity agreements with any state that has a sanctuary city. If you can't trust the refugees coming from Syria, how can you trust the same Syrian Refugees that simply used California as a lily pad to jump into the country with? aaaaiiiiieeeee! |
