i underachieved educationally, without a doubt, but here i sit, running my own business, albeit not doing that brilliantly, (but hey ho, so what eh?) with a wife and daughter who i love

now, if my life had gone 'better' for me, i would NOT have met my wife and i would NOT have my lovely daughter

No because I've always been true to myself. I don't care about making a lot of money or achieving great things. I'm content as long as my needs are met and I enjoy what I do.

I'm only 26 and trust me there is plenty I wish I could do over.

- Hanging with the wrong folks, getting in a truck accident where I broke my neck and back.
- Not taking advantage of my real youth in getting my education, 18-22 years old. Now I am stuck at 26 earning my bachelor's degree.
- Working at a pointless IT job for four years, when I knew it wasn't going to go anywhere without education.
- Getting too involved in politics, I realize America is eventually doomed. Pretty much a permanent downer, because I love what America use to be.

To be honest, though. I think everything happens for a reason. I met the woman of my life, no shit. Love the hell out of her.

I'm much more intellectual then I ever was, because I think since I am doing my education now I can separate the bullshit from reality. As with anything.

After a near death experience you really do learn to appreciate the little things. Walk outside, enjoy a nice day, go fishing, do something new, change you're perception on things.

I wonder if regret is one of the major self created demons of this reality? When regret is brought into the equation all of the beautiful colors of life dim just a bit. Happiness is just that farther out of reach. The rules of this reality are a little bit harder to understand.

Completely. I wouldn't do anything the same if I could do it again. My only defense is that I did the best that I could do with what I had to work with. I worked hard, not smart.

Working until we can retire is messed up. The 'golden years' rarely end up golden. I don't think we're meant to be slaving away, passing the majority of our days at work or trying to earn money to survive. How is that living? It's not. That is a waste to me. If I could find a way to move away from all of this, I would.

FIve year plan: I'm going Thoreau. I fully intend to build a cabin for my family and use my home as a rental. Will live meagerly, but we aren't particularly materialistic anyway.
Thats's the idea, now the followthrough.

I did the best I could, but I also was not able to see potential opportunities. Life has not change for me. still do or should I say, have not done things that can and could of paid off big, if i just had more motivation and better judgement.

My ultimate dream since I can remember has been to live in a cabin in the woods.
