In many ways we are living in completely unprecedented times.
In many ways we are living in completely unprecedented times.

The primary nominees for the two party system that has had a stranglehold on this country since the 1850's when the former split of the Democratic-Republican Party, Jacksonian Democratic and Whig parties, became the Democrat and Republican parties respectively have the highest negative ratings in US history. To be fair, Johnson is pretty far from Libertarian values so he's not polling as high among hardline Libertarians as he should, either. So, even the largest third party won't be making a splash.

Jesus, I'm actually missing freaking Ross Perot. Someone shoot me.

Anyway, I have a confession to make. Actually, I have a short list of them, politically speaking. I love Bernie Sanders. I despise his policies, I support almost none of his positions on government and social restructuring. I love Bernie Sanders because he *almost* broke the Democratic party. The real effects of the footprint he's left in their ass remains to be seen over time. Many of the readers of this posting might not have felt the Bern, but the DNC sure as hell has.

My next confession will astonish pretty much anyone who knows me ... like at all. I LOVE Trump™. Let me explain. Trump™ has successfully fractured the GOP. Split it right in two. It will never be the same. MANY issues that have internally been mixed in opinion are now firmly set on one side or the other of whatever issue. He's settled the GOP into a position where they will have to adapt or die. It's just how it is. Now as a footnote to this portion, Donald Trump is a douchebag in my opinion, I don't like him. (Note the ™ above) But he paced the GOP and then led it. Like a f*cking boss. I have to credit him. While I might disagree with the direction he took it on many points ... he brought the GOP exactly what it's needed for a long, long time; someone to freaking point it at something solidly and make it focus. The party members that could not agree with the new settled issues within the party will now become independent. Or they will land in a third party that more accurately represents their views. Hell, let's face it, Trump has contributed to the campaigns of pretty much every party out there at one point or another. He's an independent that became a Republican because that's where he saw the void to occupy. He picked the ripest fruit he could see for a hostile corporate takeover via solid persuasion skills. He's really scary good at it if you can look past the smarm to see it. Like a f*cking boss.

Despite the Libertarian's bumble in not grabbing a nominee to present that truly embodied libertarian values, they have been doing an amazing job marketing those values to disenfranchised bipartisans looking for an alternative. Sadly, *sigh* Johnson is not the one that's going to sway the lost. Not all of them, anyway.

Now, one might wonder why I'm taking such delight in the "breaking of the parties". Simply put; things haven't worked for a long time. A. Very. Long. Time.

The wonderful thing about this election season is that it will be the 9-11 of bipartisan politics. In that things will never be the same after it. I'm relatively certain that Clinton will be our next administration. If a Clinton is as far as being the nominee, the fix is in. The Clintons are too corrupt to roll the dice. They're way too connected to waste their time and money otherwise. However, for the sake of discussion I will continue with the presumption that a genuine election takes place. Regardless of whether it's Clinton, Trump or a third party, even ... the American population in general has insulated themselves into their own echo chambers so deeply that they will be incredulous that whomever is elected made it legitimately. It's going to pull a LOT of heads out of the sand and make people finally start to question the mess our government has become en mass. That's wonderful. Crucial, really. Because with all the drama being stirred up, the issues everyone is passionate about are not the issues that are actually the most pressing for the people of these United States.

The waters have become so muddied almost no one can see the ONLY important issue the United States of America and it's people face; $19 billion in national debt. That's some $56,000 for every man, woman, child and infant in these United States. If we all worked for one year at 100% taxation and every dime of those taxes going to pay, the debt still would not be paid off. Everyone has heard or read pretty much this exact same thing in one way or another for years now. So, it's losing it's effect, sadly.

Debt is an issue for any country but it presents a particularly serious problem for America; the US Dollar is the global reserve currency. You can not purchase oil anywhere in the world with anything but the US Dollar. Our government has been milking this for all it's worth for a long time, but really put on the steam since the housing bubble burst by running the printing presses full stop. "Oh, we can just print more money to pay off our debts, no problem!" Well, if suddenly the rest of the world decides they do not find our currency stable any longer and it loses it's reserve status the market will suddenly be flooded with more dollars than it can handle. The value of every dollar in existence suddenly loses a huge portion of it's value, wiping out almost any and all savings. Repayment of current national debt will have to be paid in the new reserve currency and we no longer have any exports to obtain those reserve currency notes. We lose our ability to be an economy of consumption and will require another industrial revolution. Our primary export is US Dollars. If they are not valued, we're tanked.

Yeah, I know this is all over the place. I don't really discuss a single topic here but a net of them. Believe it or not, it really is all connected ... at least in my head somehow.

Dear disaffected Democrats: Welcome to the Libertarian Party, we think you will find our social tolerance delightful. However in exchange for this, you're going to have to find a way to be ok with people keeping their guns and more of their money.

Dear disaffected Republicans: Welcome to the Libertarian Party, we think you will find our small government economic policies to your liking. However in exchange you will have to find a way to be ok with "the gays" getting married.
