Another thing I read today kind of ties in. The prisoners were making helmets for the troops and producing sub standard
material. They were passing the inspections by rigging which ones were looked at. Now you and I both know it really wasn't the prisoners doing that. Prisoners produce alot of military contract products, including parts for bunker busters and such. I'm fairly sure this fact ties into the decision to not renew those private contracts. If one bent down and looked under the bed, I;m sure we'd find alot more than just defective helmets.

So with regard to prisons, when you make them private, monied interests emerge that pressure Congress to pass more prohibitive laws, so that more things are illegal, so that more people go to jail, so that it grows the bottom line of the private prisons.

Prisons should not be private.
