Thanks for posting this: I was in the region about 15-20 minutes after the car jacking at the rest stop near Radium exit. This is approximately 15 min north of Las Cruces NM.
The 100mile inland border patrol checkpoint is about 10 minutes north. The place was so hot with multi-agency agents it was a circus. I'm talking multiple helo's, Army intelligence, Border Patrol, local police.

They had the on ramp and exit in and out of Hatch closed late into last night. It was quite a bit of excitement for the region. I can only imagine it was cartel related in order for the perp to have gone to such extreme lengths to flee.

after reading the article: there was an hour and 30 minutes from when the shooting occurred and the perps were tracked to Radium. The problem is the area they traveled was too nearby for it have taken them that long to arrive to the destination no more than 25 miles drive from Hatch to Radium. Something sounds fishy about the 33yr old officer shooting, I can feel it in my gut.
