What does it mean to prefer observation to conversing and often only laugh inside? | |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 72735104 Now that's a very interesting thought. Over the last few years that may be the case. I should note that I do laugh out loud more often in older company. Maybe I'm just tok jaded to keep up with my generation? Getting screwed by life isn't half as bad when you're not a tight ass. |

Is that not unhealthy in a way? It seems like someone should be able to relate well enough to their own generation? Anonymous Coward User ID: 46879986 Finland 08/06/2016 07:08 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I'm 25 and my generation, and I do mean almost my entire generation, is ALWAYS loud and laughing loudly. Now, it's not that I don't have a sense of humor, but I generally only 'lol' out of courtesy. I'm also not a fan of generational meme humor and prefer more 'authentic', original, observational humor. Quoting: ofLesserMatters As of today the man I relate to most is a 72 year old Cherokee fella (quite excitedly) teaching me his trade secrets of woodworking. (Lots of extra detail there.. Pardon my egotism). I've been described as the sort to not speak often, but people -listen- when I speak. It honestly stucks! Lol. I'm not sure if I'm insane, an individual or if I even care. I am curious about polling for thoughts on it, or maybe just validation, ;) BUT I am completely open to ALL perspectives on the idea. P.S. I've obviously been can an 'old soul' who know how many times. Looking forward to your input, and ty for reading :) ^ I think you answerd your own question. it sounds that youre just too individual and intelligent to run with the herd of sheep. |

I find small talk boring. I don't use Facebook, Twitter, or anything similar. I post here because I don't have to go through the rigmarole of registering an account. If it became compulsory to register I just wouldn't bother. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 72016321 Finland 08/06/2016 07:27 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | You're just an introvert. I guess it's less common in your culture. I'm an introvert, too. I can socialize well enough, but it quickly drains my energy. I can't really stand being in a crowd for more than two hours. At that point I need a break or I'll get anxious. I prefer to listen and observe. Whenever I say something, it's usually a follow-up on whatever the others were just talking about. I don't like to start conversations, debate (I can out-debate anyone on the net, but get totally crushed in oral debates), meet new people, and have hard time remembering and following the proper social code for formal occasions (like weddings and funerals). It's ok as long as you know it and can away from people once in a while. |

I'll also create topics (relevant to the conversation. If it's about Pokémon go I just hang back. I like talking about ideas) Luckily enough for me I love 5 miles outside a town of 600. Still have trouble getting alone at times so I stay up all night to get it (tonight) . My most productive days are actually after all-nighters Getting screwed by life isn't half as bad when you're not a tight ass. |
