I believe the term gay originated in the late 1800's and was used by homosexual prostitutes. I could be wrong but that's what I read a few days ago on an etymology website. So it originated within the homosexual community, and was not created by 'Christians' as a derogatory term for them.

Yeah the flooding of 'pride' annoys the crap out of me as well. I don't think it's something that should be glorified over heterosexuality. Its a many layered issue. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that I don't think you really understand the complexity of what's going on, OP.

When people put forward the argument that they are born this way (as homosexuals), I believe this to be truth for some of them, and I also believe that its not their fault. I do however, believe that its an abnormality and is due to disruption of normal development as a fetus. There's quite a lot of literature available on this topic.

My mind is easily exhausted when discussing this as , as I say, it's incredibly complex, and for many elements of it, I don't know the answers, just what I've come to see as the causes. But I do stand by that it should not be seen as something to be glorified and pushed on our children.

If you understood the circumstances that led to some, maybe many (I don't have statistics) people being the way they are, you might find yourself being a little more compassionate.
